SV6 Has only done just over 15.000 and the air con is making a noise, only on hot days? the noisy comes in to play when in heavy traffic going through the gears, holden had told me the air cons do make a noise, "it's nomal" either they are deaf or i am going mad, none of my other holdens have had this noise![]()
Can you describe the noise? Like is it a whine or a whoosh kinda thing? Does it appear to be coming from the vents or elsewhere?
It's not coming from the vents, it sounds like it is at the back of the engine just behind the fire wall, holden have changed the compressor but the noise is still there? it got me beat??Originally Posted by DavoTheGreat
I have got exactly the same issue with my 05 SV6 Auto. Holden has no idea what it is. I had a 02 Mini Cooper S that also did the same thing too, BMW took about 4 goes to fix it and in the end I can't remember what they did.

Do you mean the 'whining' noise that seems to get worse when the A/C is on?
in my ute... im gona make note to holden about it too... think with the ventilation fan theres somthin a miss squeaky bush/bearing in the motor - located behind lower glove compartment... tried n tested cause frequency changes to fan speed and goes when fans off... anywas it sounds kinda like a mouse on a running wheel... most likely different to what u are experiancing?
Not sure if this is the same noise but mine had the (aluminium?) block that exits through the firewall that the aircon hoses attach to touching the firewall. Made a metallic sound at about 2000 rpm, particulary left hand turns. This is located in the firewall in front of the glovebox. Took bloody ages to find cause. Temporarily fixed by bending connecting block mounts upwards. Pressure in hoses causes same thing?
It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious
