    Default HBD Sandman canopy

As the title suggests, I am trying to get a HBD Sandman canopy for my ute.

After a little trying today I have only been given the run around by Holden dealers. Given stories such as 'they have to be purchased when the vehicle is bought' to 'we can probably get one in and it would be the first time we have fitted one but we are willing to give it a go'.

    So a couple of questions:

    1. Has anyone has any experiences trying to buy a HBD item after sales?
    2. Anyone got any idea on how I should go from here? ie. are there any decent Holden dealers around that can give me honest info.
    3. Are there any opinions on other styles of canopies eg carryboy such as quality of finish/fitment and weatherproof qualities.

    Cheers....

There is a guy who works at Ballarat Holden, who always advertises on ebay selling all types of alloys, tyres and a whole heap of other bits and pieces.

If you do a search on ebay.com.au just type in something like 'VZ SV6" and you'll get to him that way.

I just checked his user name is: ballaratholden.

I've never dealt with him personally, but I'd give him a shot.

$160 for a VZ SV6 alloy he seems pretty reasonably priced, worth a email.

    Hope this helps

    cheers

hey mate, i'm pretty sure they fit them at HSV in Melbourne and that its actually a separate company that makes the canopies and sells them to Holden.

So I'd call HSV Melbourne and ask them. I was considering getting a 2nd hand ute and having the canopy fitted, but because i removed the window from the cabin to the tray i wanted to make sure i get the warranty sorted.

Call AMCAT 1800644355, located in bayswater Vic

I just bought a New VE SV6...... trying to work out options for storage as im a tradie

So far the carry boy is out as the ladder rack is crap... and you need a roof rack on the roof as well...

Flexiglass is overpriced and over rated

ARB is spot on with great openings and great ladder racks... but still not that look that makes you go WOW.....

So i'm trending towards the AMCAT Sandman Panno canopy..
I was in there today for a while discussing roof rack options ect..
They also need a high mount LED stoplight

Price is good i think for what it is..

Overall hight is 1750mm...... still get in carparks even with a roof rack and ladders fitted.

A company called PRP plastics which was located in Campbellfield used to make the Sandman canopies to order for Hholden.

I'm not sure if they are still in business anymore but they were definitely making them and other assorted parts for Holden utes (the plastic tubliners etc.)

These were the genuine Holden parts by the way and the after markets which came off the same production line.

Hey man, the Sandman styled ones are made by AMCAT in Melbourne and are only fitted in Melbourne unfortunately.
So you will only find second hand ones kicking about in car yards or carsales.com.au etc unless you bring one in from interstate.
I think they are trying to source businesses in other states that can fit them in the future.
