    Default Holden Bluetooth Car Kit

    Hi Guys

I have a VZ SSZ ute and has a genuine holden bluetooth kit installed. It all works great however i have a problem where that when the bluetooth activates a hissing/static sound can be heard through the speakers. Obviously the louder you turn it up the louder the noise gets. Holden seem to think this is normal, but i'm not quite sure.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with a holden bluetooth kit?

    Thank you

I don't have the Holden Bluetooth in my VZ Crewman SS, and probably shouldn't be responding here, but I provide the following should anyone be looking for a bluetooth solution that is quite versatile.

I chose instead to use a Bluetooth device I that could use in any of my vehicles. I had tried the usual earpiece-mike bluetooth but that was not comfortable or convenient.

I was also tired of paying lots of money to install/deinstall car kits, so I went with the Blueant Supertooth-II which looks like this.

It it is attached magnetically to a metal clip you put on the sunvisor (so it is face down to what is shown). You get two clips so you can move it from vehicle to vehicle. you can buy extra clips if you need them. It is fantastic. It will bind to two different phones (so your other half can also use it) and it works extremely well. If your phone has voice dialling you can also use that.

I use it in my Crewman SS and Ford Escape as well as in my Ford Transit Van. The Transit van is VERY noisy on the road and it works perectly there too. The secret is to not turn the volume up further than you actually need. If you shop around you can get this for A$140.00 although it lists much higher on some websites. There is also an older model which is not as good in terms of size and battery life. This comes with two chargers (240V and 12v) and goes for weeks without recharging provided you remember to turn it off (by flipping the mike arm back up) after you leave your car overnight.

Also it doesn't make any noise whatever in any of the three radios in my vehicles.

I didn't go the genuine kit due to the price. I did, however get a Nokia Advanced Bluetooth kit and installed it myself. Holden make this really simple to do because they have already connected up everything to a plug for their genuine unit. Just had to buy a matching plug and some pins and it was easy peasy. There is actually a thread on this forum about how to do it. I find that the Nokia kit is quite clear and users on the other end don't realise I am even in a car. I also have the added bonus of using the pop port connector to charge my phone. This only works with Nokia phones however.

Not that you can really see here (Screen on the right)

I bought the SE Car Hit (HCB700). Comes with an LCD that displays who's calling / wether you have reception etc.

Can also scroll through phonebook on it to call people.

Wired into the holden loom, works a charm

i don't have the bluetooth kit i have the one with the cradle etc, and yeah mine has a hissing type noise after you hang up from a call or after pressing buttons, but once the voice in on the stereo goes back to radio it stops.

its not really loud so im not worried about it.

Hey, I have the Bluetooth kit in my SSZ and it works great! I reckon the noises/hissing you are hearing my be due to your mobile phone (if I turn up the volume on my phone when in a call it can get a bit distorted for example). The hissing maybe due to the phone's internal audio not being up to scratch.

This might not be your probem and could be a number of things.... helps a lot huh? I have no idea how it works in holdens... helps even more, lol. What can happen is the gain setting might be set to high and can cause an effect called feedback. Usually the main problem of this is placing your mic too close to your speaker. As the mic recieves the noise it is apmlified and sent to the speakers, louder the speaker the more input into the mic etc etc.

Give me a quick update on how to use it including volume controlS (plural) and placement of componants

Just a quick one, I've cranked the Holden BT kit up with someone on the phone and I haven't had any feedback. I'm using a good Nokia handset with the system, maybe an older system with older internals could be prone to more electrical interference...hence the buzzing/noisy background.

also you might wanna make sure you've got the balance to the front right only for the phone. When your on the phone the balance controls are on thier own preset setting so when the call finishes the balance goes back to normal. You'll only need to change it once.

A few times i've been caught out with the bluetooth kit, just sitting on the tailgate or in the back with the stereo on, and my phone rings and i answer it but it goes through the stereo so I've gotta run back to the drivers seat so I can hear them properly.

I currently have a Parrot MKI9200 installed in my car and it works great. But i also had a Parrot minikit slim - one of those portable bluetooth ones - and it worked really well, sound quality was great and had voice dialing and loads more features.

ive got the Holden bluetooth kit VZ SS, mine works fine except if i put my phone in the drink holder in the center console, it makes a bit of distortion.
apart from that i can crank it as loud as it goes and it works fine.

I have the Holden bluetooth kit, can't say I've noticed any hissing, certainly not enough to be heard over road noise.

I looked into one of the parrot minikit slims and from what i could see were the best on the market. I picked one up from LBH Retail - The best price from a trusted store on all your communication needs. and got it the day after i ordered. The features on this kit are great and the sound quality is amazing. Thanks for the tip.

    Cheers
