Unhappy VZ SV6 and/or Ute Nudge Bar?

Just wondering whether any of you VZ brothers and sisters have fitted a nudge bar to your ride and, if so, what technique you used (or would subsequently recommend) to accommodate the refitting of the Air Dam Grille?

The Dealer fitted a nudge bar to my 2006 VZ SV6 and destroyed the grille in the process leaving my radiator partially exposed to debris. They are trying to source a new grille and have indicated that they intend to slice the nudge bar, fit the grille and weld the nudge bar back on. I suggested they just un-bolt the nudge bar, use a saw bit to drill 2 openings for the nudge bar, slide the grille through the bar ends, bolt the bar ends back into position then fit the grille. They looked confussed as they said they have never fitted a nudge bar to an SV6 (appart from mine).

Thanks for your help.

I have to agree with you, they are quite ugly however, I do a lot of country driving so in practicle terms they are not as ugly as having a Roo burried in your front end. They also act as a platform to mount spotlights (again to make country driving a bit safer) and my wife drives it occassionally and tends to 'bump into things' every so often. So having the bar reduces the risk of not having the car while its being repaired and best of all, I can't see it from the ****pit.

Just so I had some where to hang the spotties.

Not a bad idea. Just need to drill some holes to accommodate the spotties. A new bar (High Rise Type) costs around $550, spotties sit inside protecting them to an extent. Does'nt look too bad - I'll take a photo of mine and post it tomorrow.

Mmm Dealers.........

I had an aftermarket nudge bar fitted and had a similar problem with the grille.

As you said

all they need to do is unbolt the nudgebar leaving the mounting brackets exposed ,take the front bumper off, fit the grille, measure and then cut the grill in two places, insert and attach the bumper and griile thru the mounting brackets, then bolt the nudgebar back on.....

Good Luck with it let us know how you get on.
