I hope no one minds but i cut this from the vy section.

Pulling off the steering wheel is fairly easy, from memory
1. Disconnect the Battery (and wait a minute) - neutralises the airbag circuit
2. On the back of the steering wheel is 4 clips that hold on the airbag, you'll need a small screwdriver to release them
3. Remove the airbag connector - just pulls off from memory
4. Remove the stereo buttons
5. Undo the centre nut but leave it on a turn and give the wheel a yank, should cone loose, then remove the nut and off she comes, be careful when reinstalling the new wheel as the wiring goes into a clock spring and if you put it in wrong it will break and you'll get an airbag code. It has a green (I think) window to tell you its in the right place.

Note: When removing the airbag be very careful not to have anything in your mouth etc as if it accidently deploys, it will kill you, chances are pretty slim though.

When i did mine i didnt remove the wheel,i just removed the 2 screws holding the wheel backing then levered off the plastic behind each spoke there is a clip holding them in place.
When the backing is lose rotate it enough to get to the screws holding the spokes on you will need a short philips.
good luck its not that hard just take your time.

Thanks for the reply mate, was hoping i wouldnt have to whip the wheel off, maybe just the front cover where u activate the horn. Ill go and have a look for the two screws you are talking about soon, but i didnt see them on inspection before.
cheers

EDIT: cant see the two screws you are talking about, could it be that mine is different to your berlina because it has the a/s paddles on the steerin wheel

No it should be the same, there are 2 silver screws at 3 and 9 oclock, does yours have steel spokes at the moment? if you only have rubber ones you cant change them.
You can see the screw holes in the picture.

Nah they are steel. I have changed the two top ones where the A/s paddles arei just took the paddle off and wound the screw out and they came off, the other two at the bottom im going to have to get a smaller screw driver because i cant stretch the backing plate back far enough. Thanks for you help!

I had the same problem, but i just turned the wheel around a bit hard with no power steering. You should be able to pull the backing sideways.,thats what i did .

Default steering wheel spokes

I did mine the other day. This is how i did it without removing the steering wheel and airbag.

Firstly disconnect the battery. Then there are two screws on the back of a/s paddles, they are covered by plastic covers. Just unclip the plastic cover and the screws are exposed. Undo the screws and the a/s paddles unclip. Underneath where the paddles were you should see three holes corresponding where the wheel spokes sit. Go to the middle hole and you will find a phillips head screw. Unscrew it and the spokes will easily come off. Now that is the top two done, the bottom are real pains. First go to the plastic steering wheel backing where the bottom spokes are. Pull it towards the dash and it will unclip.Once again you will see the three holes on the back of the steering wheel which correspond with the spokes. Go to the middle hole and unscrew the screw. FOR THIS YOU WILL NEED A SCREWDRIVER WHICH IS AT A RIGHT ANGLE BECUASE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO FIT A NORMAL SCREWDRIVER. Also a hint would be to jam something inbetween the plastic backing and the wheel to give you some room to undo the screws. Eventully you will undo the screws and then your done just put your new spokes in.

It would be alot easier to just to remove the steering wheel and do it, however i did not want to take the chance of having the airbag accidently explode or an airbag fault coming up after i did it!!!!

Have just got some spokes. I dont have A/S paddles (Manual), and can not find the screws to remove the backing. Last thing I want to do is play around with the airbag...

Any ideas?

They were in the paddles on mine, but as commodore2004 sai, they should be at 3 and 9 oclock on the back of the wheel on yours.
