Stock speaker sizes/locations?

Can someone tell me the sizes of the stock speakers and locations in an SV6?

I know there is one in each of the doors @ the bottom, are these coax or splits? if they are splits, where are the tweeters. Are there others hidden anywhere?

I have a near new set of MB Quart speakers from my old car and was wondering if they would fit.

dunno bout sizes but the tweeters are under the dash pannel that wraps along the windsceen and meets up with the A pillars, there is little vents over them

The front doors have a 61/2" mid driver, which is actually in a 6" DIN sized spacer. Most major brands will fit in, back doors are same i believe. I have Infinity perfect 6's in my SV6, a bit of a squeeze but worth it, have also put calais grilles in back so could put the infinity 6x9's in rear trays and have 2 x 10" infinity perfects in custom box out back. All running off facotry head and JBL amps. Does not sound too bad, factory heads pre-amp lets things down a bit as it seems to have a subsonic filter built in even if you turn all the compression off.

When changing the tweeters (std is 1" polycone with rear m4 screw) watch out for one little screw which you access through the air vent supply from the dash to the door, broke my first ones on my old vt. The crossover is just basic in line capacitor by the tweets and nothing for the mids, i would recommend putting your own crossover and new wiring to both tweets and mid's unless you plan to use factory head. In that case may be best to split the components out of your crossovers and place by the drivers as they are wired in parallel as standard.

And yes i did used to work for the JBL & infinity distributors incase anyone was wondering, so if anyone needs any audio advice, i have tried almost everything in VS, VT, VTII, VX & VZ...

Thanks for that my MB Quart's have their own crossovers so that is not an issue. Sounds like all should fit nicely.

1st, I must say this forum is an invaluable resource for bounding obstacles to mod your commodore, I have come across phreddy’s RCA mod and will soon be in contact to sort mine out.

I have a similar question about speakers, and hoping for some more definitive answers as I’m 600kays away from the city and pretty busy so want a simple upgrade that I can source everything for online!

You say the fronts have a 6 ½ in DIN hole, with a spacer to suit 6 in factory speakers.
Does this mean 6 ½ speakers fit? When removing the spacer, is the depth available compromised?
Or is it any easier to stick with a 6in
Tweeters – how do you remove the panel at the base of the window to access these (I must admit, I haven’t had much of a look yet

Rear
I have been told by guy at a shop that the rear door speakers are 5 in. is this correct.

He suggested a clarion pack is ideal as it contains a pair of 6 ½ splits for the front and 5in coax’s for the rear. Does this sound reasonable?

Do the existing screw holes typically line up with aftermarket speakers of same size, or is some drilling required.

Subs
Also, apparently the rear parcel shelf has a provision for 8in subs. has anyone placed aftermarket 8’s in here? I know many ppl put 6x9’s in there but that’s not my intention. I have seen a GM part to mount the factory 8in subs, is this necessary or can they be fastened somewhere directly
Furthermore, what is the depth clearance like there, are a shallow design required? What have others used?
I want to put a pair of *in's in to avoid using the daggy grills and keep the boot free of a dirty big box. Any tips from experience?

I’m sure I’ll come up with more basic questions that may have been answered somewhere else, but I couldn’t find a definitive answer here.
