Default Oil Service Light

Hey guys hows it all goin?? Well firstly got my car serviced on tuesday, and might i say whoa finally feels like 190kw. Anyway so got it serviced and then this morning when i started it for work a meesage came up on the dash "Service engine oil" it also comes up when i turn it off. I tried to ring them when i got home but i was to late, already gone for the day. Going to try 2morrow but thought someone on here might know. Could it be software? Beacause apparently they upgraded it because the service notice was coming up at 10,000klm intervals. Also for the sudden power gains that im noticing could it be the software uppgrade or just cos its had a service and its all in my head?? Either way im glad i finally got my 190.

Cheers
Brownie

the ECU is suppose to adapt itself to your driving style i thought??? but the service engine oil reminder was a holden techline, take it back and they should clear it with tech 2 in a couple of minutes free of charge

simple problem. take it to holden they will fix it in about 3 seconds. or if u no how to reset the service reminder/fault codes do it yourself. from memory hold up and down arrows when turning on the car then follow the menu.

i think it still comes back if you do it from the trip computer buttons. it was a techline at holden that certain build numbers had. it has to be disabled with tech 2 in its options

Ok guys thanx for your post. Well ive got home from the place that did my service and im not happy. For starters i had to drive 20+ klms out of my way to go there and see them for their friggin desk whore to tell me ever so nicely that "All our tech boys are about to knock off in 20mins" that was at 4:10pm oh but hang on i rany yesterday at 5:15 and the lady said then ill put you through but they normally go home at around 5. But ill try anyway. Now back this to this other shiela!! I told her what was wrong she said oh yeah they sometimes come out with the v8 software in them (which is what i told the exact same thing to the exact same perons when i dropped my car off on tuesday), then i said yeah i said that the other day and on my reicpt they had written that they had done something about that part of it. Then she procceds to tell me that it could take around half an hour to reprogram. So i said how i asked some mates (she doent need to know it was a forum, im sure were all mates anyway in someway:P) they said it would take three seconds, Oh no she said it will take atleast half an our to program it. Can you bring it in on monday?? So i said tuesday, cos im off work then. Sooooo if i go in there on Tuesday and it takes less than HALF an hour im gonna smash a beer bottle over the counter and stick it in her throat (sorry for the violent post but im ****ssssssed.... not from the beer either). Oh and i couldnt really go off cos a cop followed me i thought he was there for me cos i was speeding there so i could get it done. Anyways guys you all have a lovely weekend im gonna go and drink some beer so i can get bottles oh or bundy not fussy and im sure her throat wont be either better to be safe than sorry aye!!!

Thanx for caring cos Holden certainly dont!!

Cheers

That sucks man! Its like they got their money now so they stop giving a shit about ya! I hav the same problem with my car now the 60k serv.reminder is showing up but the dealer reckons b4 any car goes on sale they giv it a service. It had an NRMA Inspection and the Holden Certifed inspect but how come 3 weeks after taking my car home my oil is showing minimum on the dipstick(engine hot
+cold)so i rang the guy who did the sale and he said they definitly did the 58k serv. But the logbook is missing the stamp for this service!Apparently they forget sometimes but im beginning to think they are b/s ing me cause they engine has a bit of a rough idle while sitting at the lites and it just doesnt feel like 175kw.Any way thats my 2cnts.We all go through the same shit with these dodgy bast***!

Not a 100% sure about the V6 but I had the oil service alarm a few times for different reasons. I believe it is a low oil pressure alarm for the motor, If it doesnt clear you either have no oil pressure or the sender is stuffed. If it does clear you have only had a low oil pressure event. I thought the oil pressure alarm woild be a little more descriptave as when the sender is stuffed this should be clearer and tell you there is NO OIL PRESSURE not service vehicle soon. Dealers must be a tight lot as every service I have ever had from a dealer the oil is allways 1/2 liter down from the full mark! The longer I have my SS the less confident I feel about it being a keeper.

The dealer is telling you the truth
the 10k sericing is just a configuration setting telling the software it has a V6 & not a V8, takes 5 minutes
the reprogramming to fix the service engine oil issue on a V6 & 5.7 takes at least 20 minutes as it involves reflashing the engine controller & the instrument cluster. The problem is an incorrect software set that has an export function enabled.

a 6.0 takes about 3 minutes as it only involves setting the remaining oil life in the engine controller
