How is this one to shock ya socks!!!

This morning I am in the shower and I hear this car start and then begin to rev to max...

I think what is this idiot doing with his car... it sounded like the engine was going to blow... then it stops... and then starts again...

I hear this for a couple of minutes then stick my head out of the shower to realise the engine I was listening to was a holden commodore...

I then jump out of the shower and race out for a look to see what is going on...

I get to the door and I see the street covered in smoke...

When I get outside where my wife is standing I see this blue VZ commodore reving its guts out and realise it is my car and I watch as it revs up and then stops then starts again and revs a while at max and stops... lots and lots of smoke...

First thing I think is someone is in my car so I hit the lock button and race to the car to catch the person... I get to the car as it stops reving and guess what I see ??

NO ONE!!!

The car was starting and reving itself to max then dying down all by itself... this car had a mind of its own!!!!!!


I contacted holden and they told me this was impossible.... I then towed the car to a service dealer and argued with holden for a while then a service mechanic came back saying there were strange error codes on the computer relating to the ignition and throttle system......

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holden are getting an engineer to look at the car now... beyond a mechanics ability now Im told.... damn...

Happens once to my VS. Got home from work parked my car on the driveway as usual and turned her (Engine) off. About 10-15 mins later decided to pay some bills so went back to the car. The engine is still on!! the car is locked there are no signs of tampering but it could be my dad but he was watching telly!!
This happened about a year ago, but ever since it never happened, still got me puzzled.

VZs have electronic throttle, so its just something to do with the computer playing up. Guess you should stop looking at car porn, cause you got a virus!

Yeh I think the computer has just crapped out and caused it all but it is the spookiest thing I have ever seen a car do...

BTW this VZ I have had the following replaced so far... Body Control Module, Throttle Control Module, Throttle Wire Harness, Brake Master Cyliner and Booster...

Now after this I expect a new engine and electrical system at the least... Im sure smoking of the level this engine was doing is not good for its health...

Im now worried about the car and dont want to drive it anymore, never had a holden before that made me think this way...

Then again I wont need to after its exhibition ... itll drive itself where it wants heh...

Anyway did anyone find the cause of this?? I reckon its prob be electrical stuff up.

May should call the paranormal division to come and take a look at your car.

Heh just had a scare...

Holden hired me an Avis car... which of course is a Holden VZ Commodore...

Sitting and watching TV when all of a sudden the wife and I hear this car start up and rev its guts out...

We both run outside to see if the hire car commodore is doing the same thing...

But this time its lifeless and this person looks up from another car and tells us they are just fixing the engine on their car...

Lol we both freaked...

Just for interest ...

The strange error code that the service guys could not explain was as follows...

59: TRS/ECTS Open/Short.

They said it was what controlled starting and throttle...

They also said it may be related to the supposedly disabled system on Australian vehicles but enabled on american vehicles... the remote engine start feature...

just curious what smoke was it, black, blue, white and what did it smell like if u can describe it eg burnt oil etc etc, but thats just scary

Out from under the bonnet and under car was realy thick white smoke...

And from the exhaust it was thin white then it would jump a notch in revs and then it became realy thick white smoke billowing out...

Similar to what a good burn out produces from the tyres...

The smell was a mixture of rubber, plastic and oil smells and the tow truck driver described it like cooked sausages...
