Hey I'm not sure if something similar has been posted before, if so can you send me a link, cheers
Anyway I'm looking at buying a quicksilver vz exec ute 6 speed v6 with 64,000 k's, I went and looked at it today and its got quite a few scratches and stuff so probably not the best looked after ute, anyway im wanting to know if there are any telltale signs by looking at the car as to how well the engine has been looked after, or anything else to look out for, the engine bay looks very clean, tray looks like it has held a few lose sharp objects but it has been used as a company work ute.
I'm also wondering how hard it is to get centre console plastics, as they are very scratched, there is a pic below so you can see why im curious about the car
Also any ideas on how much it is worth would be good
Thanks in advance for your help
Steve

Mate, generalkly speaking, the interior of a car shows the amount of respect an owner will have for a car.
IF its ****ed, its cos of a lack of effort to maintain it which relates to the effort for the rest of the car.
As a work ute, it will have been treated like **** and hence all your damage.
Interior can be replaced very easily, but its better to just steer clear.
They ONLY just stopped making VZ's... trust me, there will be another manual ute out there in better condition.
aZk.
What price is on the vehicle if its over $20,00 its far too much.
you can buy a good xgovernment one like this in good condition for about the samw money .

its hard to tell by sound how well the engine has been looked after cause they sound like **** all the time. the console is pretty easy to pull out from memory. there are 2 screws at the very back and 2 bolts in the centre console itself 10mm. and then i think the rest unclips. pm phreddy because he has written a guide on how to pull it apart with pictures
the top part of the centre console simply pulls out with one screw holding it in under the ashtray
It is actually an ex-government car and on the website looked quite good, the rest of the interior looks like new, just the centre console is scratched, theyre expecting it to go for around 18 grand

I dont really know what to think, some people say get it if its cheap enough, others say dont because often by the condition of the interior shows how theyve looked after it
what do you's think would be a decent price for it?
Doh!
If it's cheap, buy it. It's still under warranty so any issues could be dealt with by Holden. If you've ever had a work car you don't tend to take it easy on them. That said you can spend extra and get something that a little old lady drove to the shops on Sunday's...if you believe the salesman. At least you know this cars history.
No one but you knows if you should buy it.

i dont really know the history, all i know is it was owned by TransAdelaide so most likely been used for building railways and stuff, which could explain some of the tray damage, normally i wouldnt buy something with this much damage but the fact is i could get a vz ute with 6 speed for a good 5-10 grand cheaper than at a dealer, because of the condition, maybe if im lucky not as many people interested in it and maybe cheaper, i wish i knew the history then i would have more of an idea on wether i should buy it or not, im also getting a loan out for it so i really dont want something thats just gonna be problems after i get it, hopefully warranty does cover anything though (i figure getting a loan is the best chance of getting a newer car as otherwise i will keep spending money on the vp like i have so far, between vk and vp ive spent probably about 8 grand on them not including buying them, and knowing me its only gonna increase)
also a quick question how long does warranty last for? is it 3years/100k's?
if its a government car, it will have had a hardish life but it will have been serviced and the like, i know cause i service government vehicles, but if the engine sounds normal, and hasnt got any leaks than go for it if you get it under 20k,
btw, when you hear an alloytec run dont confuse the injector 'tick' noise with another, cause its quite prominant

Most likely many different drivers none of whom took any responsibility for service and or maintennance.
Like I said, your money, you take the chance if you go ahead with it.

If they reckon it will got for $18K at auction, you still might need to pay the auction house fee and stamp duty too. So factor all that in.

Well I'm getting everything sorted out loanwise and checked out the new car warranty, they said that anything I think is wrong they will check out and say if its abnormal or not, and if it is they will fix/replace it at no cost, it includes like engine transmission and clutch, because of that I'm feeling more confident in buying it, depending on how much it goes for of course.
at auction all you pay is there admin fee which should be less than 300, manheim fowles chages 260, if you buy pre auction, you pay up to %15 on the reserve plus the admin fee,
i,e i bought a car from fowles 4 weeks ago pre auction,
the reserve was 16,000, the extra was 2,300 + 260 admin, so i payed a total of 18,560 for my car,
than you pay transfers, insurance etc later on
