    Default Limp Mode

    Hi

Does anyone know what the max RPM or speed is when an SV6 goes into "limp" (get-you-home) mode?

    Thanks

I think its 40km/h. Well thats what my bosses SS crewman did when it went into limp mode.

Because I'm building a kit car using SV6 engine and running gear. I'm getting error messages for the ABS (cos I've got no front sensors) and airbags (no passenger airbag). It wont rev past 4000 rpm so I assume its gone into limp mode.

I havent taken it for certification yet so I cant run it on the road to find out this info. When I do take it for certification they need to take it up to 90 kph so thats why I am interested to know.

Alternatively, does anyone know whether the ABS or airbags can cause limp mode, or is it some other problem?

Might have to find a friendly Holden dealer...

Afaik abs doesn't cause limp mode but airbags might. i would have thought that limp mode would have limited rpm's to a lower level cause 4000rpm is less than 2000 under redline. if its an auto it may also lock itself into a gear. send doctor bob a pm or find him on his thread in the pub. he will know

Just for your consideration, the alloytec when not in gear does not rev past 4000 rpm (at lease in my 175KW VZ). So it might be something like that.

MATE that is standard.....VZ will not rev to red line when not in gear....its an anti burn out thing....but in gear it should rev right out to the red line...6200 in your case...
