HELP - SRS Airbag Fault
Hi Guys,
I think I stuffed up. I have been pulling the centre console in and out several times over the last few days as I am installing a carputer.
Anyway, tonight I pulled the front passenger seat out as well (to mount the carputer under) and when I put it all back together and turned the ignition on the SRS alarm goes off (beeping tune) and I get a message on the dash saying SRS Airbag Fault.
I am pretty careful the way I do things but am not an auto electrician. What could I have done wrong?
I should say that the wiring for the carputer was all done, finished and tested yesterday BEFORE this fault occurred this evening. All I did tonight was pull out the passenger seat and centre console - I didn't add any new wiring or modify any that I had already done.
I did turn the ignition back on to ACC before I put the seat back in and that is when the warning first came up. Could turning the ignition on with the seat out (and wires for seat electrics unplugged) have cause this fault?
Would really appreciate any advice. I don't think I will sleep well tonight!
Thanks

Thank Daron,
Going for a drive now as I won't be able to sleep tonight if I don't give it a try.
I've only just realised that it was the passenger seat SRS that I unplugged when I removed the seat. Initially (as per my original post) I thought it was the electrics for the seat adjustment (which the passenger side doesn't have).
Will post the result of my little drive.

Unfortunately it didn't clear. I'm booked in next week for a warranty repair on my stereo head unit (plastic cracked) so I will see if they will reset it for me for nix.
I'm beginning to wish I hadn't given my local Holden dealer a serve about their poor service when I went in 4 weeks ago to have another warranty repair looked at. I have no doubt they will remember me!
Can my local mechanic reset these things? I know in the past he has said he has all the gadgets to hook up to the cars computer?

Yeah, if your mechanic has access to a Tech 2 they can do it no problemo. It would've been set off when you disconnected the airbag sensor...nothing unusual.

Just a little update . . . . I pulled the SRS airbag fuse out whilst I have had the front passenger seat out. This stops the SRS fault alarm going off and the system check says "Check OK" at the end. Unfortunately the red SRS on the instrument panel doesn't go away and I still don't know if the alarms are going to come back once I put the seat back in and put the SRS fuse back in!

the passenger seat has a sensor in it to detect when a person is sitting in it for the computer to know whether to set off the air bag in an accident or not (SV6 also has an airbag in the seat?)
so when you disconnected the harness from the seat when you pulled it out and leaving the battery connected it set the code, you will have to go to holden to be cleared as it wont automatically reset itself

Definitely going to have to go to Holden (unless my mate who is a mechanic can reset it for me).
I've tried all the tricks about but none of them work. The good news is that my carputer is now successfully installed an working perfectly.

Just thought I would post a result here for future reference. I went to see my friend this morning that is a mechanic and he has a thing called a "Scan Tool" that he can use to reset the error codes. Took him (actually his apprentice) 5 mins to clear the codes. It didn't even cost me a 6 pack of beer.
The good news is that there is an alternative to Holden to fix these things.

yep, preety much every decent workshow has scan tools, they help diagnose problems with the new cars, they give the operator an indication of what the car computer is picking up of its sensors
