Well i picked up the holden parts today to hook up the kit. I am at work and am wiring it all up so that i can plug it in when i get home. Just wondering... To hook up the holden button, i cut off the nokia button and then wire only the green yellow and blue wires, i don't use the white and red correct? How did you guys attach the wires to the holden button though... solder them on? Also, were did you guys place the nokia box? Thanks.

Yep, only green yellow and blue are in play, then run a seperate wire from acc. power for your lights.
You can get small terminals that fit the blades under the switch, then i soldered the wires to them because they're so bloody fine!
Then i used heat shrink over the top to protect it, pretty easy job.
My nokia box is behind the centre console. Some put it behind the glovebox which is also a good hidy hole as well.

Thanks Juzo, will go to bunnings now and get the terminals. I plugged the kit in to test with nokia button, and it works, but people on the other end can hear their echo. If i turn my speakers down completely they can't (obviously), but as soon as i turn my speakers up a bit (even really softly), they can hear their echo. Do you have this problem? I'm not too fussed, as it doesn't bother me, but just for people on the other end. Worst comes to worst, i'll swap the nokia kit with the holden one in the caprice.

Yeah possibly the phone, although my missus reckons she's had problems in the past with nokia kits. Anyway, not to worry. Went to bunnings and got all the stuff i need. Will have it running by tonight =). Thanks for you help Juzo.

I had this same problem too. My phone button had to go behind my T/C button. There is a little clip on one side of every button which means the button can only go in one way.
Juzo, how did you manage your phone button next to your T/C? By the way, you probably know but your phone button is around the wrong way...

Some phones have echo reduction/noise cancellation as a feature, check in your manual maybe it's something you can turn on?

Apparently it's a big problem with the ck-7w echoing with non-nokia phones (even with some nokia phones). Will have a look at my phone and see if there is an option.

Yeah it needs a 180degree rotation. The slightly curved corners (not square corners) of the button should be facing the outer edge of the bezel.

Another question... before i cut of the nokia button, i remember changing (i think decreased) the volume of the kit through the nokia button. Would unplugging the kit from power reset the volume setting? Only reason i ask is i have to put the volume up a fair bit to hear people, and then each time i go to hang up i decrease the volume, otherwise when someone calls me it rings bloody loud. Not sure if the unit still has it's low volume set.

Hmmm that i can't help you with. I would imagine that it wouldn't make a difference but i could be wrong there. Your phone isn't a nokia right? I've heard that these kits are a bit of a lottery unless your phone's a nokia.

I assume you have a nokia then? I have an LG U990.

I mentioned above that my friend had a problem with her caprice bluetooth. Apparently her phone (Ericsson Z610i) is version 2.0 or 2.1, and her holden kit was 1.0 or 1.1, and therefore the bluetooth kit didn't support her phones newer bluetooth. So she got it upgraded and now it works. I have the ericsson w850i which also did not connect to her holden kit prior to the updated, but since it was updated it works.

So does anyone know anything about this? Will my phone work with the older version of bluetooth or do i need a version 2.0/2.1 car kit?

    Thanks,

Just letting you guys know that my missus Sony Ericsson (bluetooth 2.x) does work with my Nokia kit (bluetooth 1.x). As stated previously, the Holden kit needed to be upgraded to bluetooth 2.2 as it did not pair with the Sony Ericsons when it was running 1.x. Doesn't seem to be a problem with the nokia kit. Also my LG U990 echos, my missus Ericsson W595 echos but hardly at all, and my Samsung U900 has no echo at all. Hope that helps anyone down the track who has those phones

I have a 2004 WK Caprice with 6 loose wires (ie. no plug) beside glove box. Previous owner must have cut them instead of spending $5 on a plug.

Do you happen to know what each colour wire represents? I presume the wire colours are the same for the Caprice as for the Commodore? I have 2 yellow wires, an orange with black trip, black with green stripe, grey and a green wire.

There's always that chance. I've sold 15 or so second hand without any problems but you may get the odd one that will play up. Can you try it out before you buy it?
