    Default VZ Exective Powerchip Installed

Took the car down this morning to Artarmon Sydney to get the powerchip installed with the GOLD98, claimed 192kw, 357Nm torque. Took them less than 30mins to calibrate the 'mapping' on the computer.

The drive from Campbelltown to Artarmon was fine weather, but drove back in the rain. So haven't really had the chance to feel a difference in the results. Plus still have half a tank of mixed fuel of ULP and Mobil's Synergy8000 (98 RON).

Will get my hands on some octane booster and revert back with the results!

    VT Berlina 07.......

in your signature I notice you have 150 watt globes in your headlights. Have you noticed any burning etc of the reflectors from the extra heat? Or have you also modified your headlight assemblies?

i think its for the driving lights not the actual headlights if thats what your talking about, because yes 150w bulbs will melted the wiring if it wasnt upgraded

hi mate, and ANDYMAN. they are IPF Globes (not some egay super special) they only draw 60watt (so only 5watt more than normall 55watt) and have an output of 150watt, they are installed in my low beam(you can also buy a upgraded loom) and i only have 100watter's in my spotties but will soon upgrade them to 150 the light output is amazing, honestly 3 times better than standard globes. so we dont hijac this thread i will start a thread called "IPF Globes" in General, so ask any questions there

You thiefs, give my thread back!! j/kz

Went down to Autobarn and wanted to buy Nulon Pro Strength Octane Booster, went to the counter and the guy serving me asked what it was for. I told him about the Powerchip, he complimented it and then he gave me a lecture about why I shouldn't get it and just run the tank empty and re-fill with 98 octane. Guess he had a point (thought those guys wanted a sale, I guess honesty's still the best policy, I'm impressed). Didn't end up buying it, tank running less than half now with the mixed fuel. On the drive home, I feel a slight increase in torque from 1800rpm up, it can maintain speed going up hill (about 25-30 degree incline from horizon) at 1800rpm. Throttled a bit harder - between 2500rpm - 3000rpm, that's when it kicked in and just lifted. It feels like it's got more life, just like when I pick up a can of "V"! lol
It could be slight placebo effect adding to the excitement, still a bit early to tell, will try and run the tank empty the next two days and will post a full report.

Nah, it took them like 30mins. They removed the ECU and then calibrated it on the laptop then put it back i with an electronic device, no dynos.

Mind you I haven't paid for it yet. I have 14 days to decide whether I want to keep it or not...for that price I think I agree with some of you guys. I'll decide tomorrow.

Although it's possible that there might be some gains, I'd want to see proof from a dyno before you pay for it. But you're the only one who can tell if it's really made a difference or not

Did they say if they removed the transmission management software? or customised the shift points? (I presume it's an auto.) If they didn't personally I wouldn't bother.

A custom tune (vcm) will allow you to remap the shift points and disable the inhibiting software and get more for about the same $$$$. It might take about a day to do but it's worth it.
