My VZ Sv6 does not have a button to turn off the traction control and im 99% sure it has TC. does anyone know anything on the topic
id suggest lifting up the centre console to see if theres a plug lying underneath as it should be just behind the power windows switch, if its there buy the button and cut out the normal hole for it. i imagine someone bought a new centre console and didnt install the button.
someone else bouight a sv6 without traction control from auction. was some sort of police car. does it have the tempest grey dash and cd player or black??
Hey Naf33n!
I've heard that certian ex-cop models don't have the TC button - and I think the TC is disabled in these, but I could be wrong. As Naf suggested though, if the console facings and stereo front are black (rather than dark grey) then it will be an ex-cop car.
The other possibility is that it was a company car of some kind, and the TC switch was removed so it couldn't be switched off!

how are you 99% sure
put your foot down and make it spin if the accelerator peddle gets pushed back up it has TC
as said X cop cars have TC disabled
Hiya GMMAD. Your theory is fine with V8s, but the TC in the V6s (the Alloytecs at least)doesn't do the "pedal bounce" thing. However, one can soon see if traction control is active - try to induce wheelspin, and the head-up display in the instrument cluster will flash up "Low Traction". If it doesn't, then the TC is disabled. (in which case it'll be an ex-cop vehicle)

Was a good suggestion though!
To be honest, I've never felt that pedal bounce thing - must be pretty unnerving... One of my mates with a VY SS told me it scared the crap out of him when it happened! (he wasn't aware that they did that)

Thanks for the Tips..... it definately has a black dash and cd player so ill have to look into it a bit more and find out if it is an ex cop car..
On the topic of T/C...
I have a VY SS manual and it kicks back at me when traction gets low
My uncle had a senator signature automatic 265 (i think it was a vy) and he said his pedal kicked back
My friend has a WL caprice automatic v8 and T/C doesn't kick back.
Any ideas on why the caprice doesn't kick back?
Thanks.
WL had a new TC system
I think it's something to do with the "fly-by-wire" throttle system which was introduced with the VZ and equivalent models. (where there's no physical cable between the pedal and the throttle butterfly - it's controlled by the computer)
The trac control system underwent a few changes with the introduction of that setup, removing the pedal kick seems to be amongst those.

With the SV6 with trac control on, you're definately right it doesn't bounce back, what it does is kills the revs and bogs down so your tyres can grip again, then allowes you to rev/accelerate again. Can be rather bloody annoying in the wet when you are taking off (even normally) from lights or such because if you're not careful it can engage again straight away. One of the first things I do when I get into mine is turn it off heh, unless its raining hard. And no RVN 355, not all SV6's have LSD as standard, those before a certain month in 2005 did not have LSD, it was updated around april (? cant remember exactly) and also added was the side SRS airbags.
Me? I'm the guy who does his job ... you must be the other guy ...
I don't turn mine off unless I'm in the mood for spirited driving through some twisties. Mines pretty good, when I feel it lose traction it cuts in, its not predictive at all which I like. In a lot of cars ESP and TC cuts in too early or too late, but I generally know when its going to cut in.
I know its a bit of a dig but i have just bought a vz acclaimand it has no tc button or esp button i haven't tested for Tc yet but was wondering if is possible that it never had it or as said above has been disabled and hidden. it was built april 05. and was a company car.
thanks
Dave
Sounds like the button may have been removed so the company drivers couldnt turn it off.

just looking at that site and it looks like it is an Equipe but with the side airbags. when i was looking at buying it i loked on redbook etc and it only showed equipe's with vin 6G1ZK52B#5L######and acclaims with 6G1ZK54B#5L###### and my vin is the acclaim one. I wonder which one i have maybe someone has done some playing and try to make it look like an equipe. (no badging on rear )
