in real world terms, surely your V6's would be more economical than my old VP V8 mixer LPG with 364,000kms??? I guess it depends what sort of "suburban driving" you're doing. If you're stopping at a lot of traffic lights etc, and contending with a bit of traffic, then your figures will go up. My driving is mostly around north east, east suburbs of melb, where there aren't that many sets of lights and i rarely drive in heavy traffic, which would be why i get good economy out of a V8 that doesnt have to work very hard. Given identical conditions, I would think that a V6 would get a little better economy.

I'm thinking of getting a VY or VZ, possibly with vapour injection or something. haven't decided if the alloytec is worth getting over an ecotec though.

Thumbs down I'm pizzzed big time

Got my '99 VS S/C V6 Statesman converted to SVI for $4400 and it's rubbish so far!!!
1- We pick it up and it wouldn't go over 2000 RPM without popping and farting.
2- Took another day to fix it, then it started stuttering on low throttle.
3- Took it back again then they said they had no idea (I WAS THEIR SHOPS TEST MULE FOR S/C V6'S) so they called there sister business and told me to drive 2 hours away (TO LILYDALE FROM GEELONG) to put it on the dyno, only problem is that I'm still paying it off ($2400 AFTER REBATE) and have no extra cash to get there and lose a day of work.
4- There dyno guy came down (good guy tried to help as much as possible, wasn't his install) said to change plugs and leads (GAS LEADS, $90 later), but no change.
5- Five weeks later I'm still driving round in a stuttering, popping, non-fuel efficient (400 KLM'S-70 LTR'S) car that was a perfect 160,000 KLM'S car that had served me well for the last four years.
I have no doubt that they'll fix it's just a big let down for $4400 and the TRIED AND TEST SVI and not the UNTESTED JTG

You should have at least taken it for a test drive before parting with any cash. (I know its too late for yourself, but for others spending serious money on any mod or repair always do this), its much easier to get something fixed properly when they havent got your money yet.

I recon one of your coil packs is on its way out. I had the same issue with my super6 when it got converted.

I regard the Omegas system quite highly. It might be a simple case of the fact that the Ecotec V6s are rare candidates for SVI.

don't forget that old commodores weigh less than the new ones...
it's the...kerb weight 'vs' strain on the engine factor of the VP V8 and VT-X-Y-Z V6's

i just remembered the formula holden series (nee formula 4000) which was axed before it could take off with the alloytech.....just imagine the development that would have come out of that!

Not the case at all, the guy doing the tuning says they do them all the time n/a and s/c but he said it looks like the problem could be that mine is 1999 model vs and that it has a weird program.
He replaced the l/h o2 sensor becaues it was giving dodgey readings but seems to have helped but not cured it, he says they want to put it on a dyno to solve it once and for all.
    So i'll see what happins!

It's good to know that they are willing and keen to sort things out for you. Once things are sorted, the injected systems are far superior to any mixer-based system.

Totally agree but i wish they'd hurry up and fix it so i could use my car on gas yesterday it stalled when i overtook a car so as of now it's running on petrol and no gas, and for the rest of the time i've got the car it will always be in the back of my mind if i hear or feel the car act strange.
But hopefully they fix her quick smart, later.

Angry 2 months on and $800 bucks out of pocket!!!!!

LPGAS1 Lilydale stung me for $800 bucks labour over 5 days to diagnose and replace 1 X O2 sensor and tell me that 2 X O2 sensors had bad earths!
They called me 3 times to tell me the car was ready so i had to drive to Lilydale from Geelong (180klm round trip each time) as it was the only LPGAS1 that had a dyno (they wanted me there at 8:30 in the morning) and then when i got their and test drove the car each time it had the same problems then the second time they had me wait for 6 hours then told me that i wouldn't be getting my car back that day.
Finally done and i never have to see another LPGAS1 store again!!!!!!!!!!
DON'T CARE ABOUT THE WARRENTY I'M GETTING SOMEONE IN GEELONG TO TAKE OVER THE MAINTAINACE AS I GOT RIPPED BIG TIME!!!!!!
