Just a question I was hoping someone could answer.
I got pulled over last night and was threatened with a $150 fine
because I was driving with my spotlights on
They say that spotlights are not to be used unless its fog.
It was like 3am and I had my spotlights and normal headlights on.
Surely this cannot be correct ? They come factory fitted. I argued
my point but just got me more into trouble
not allowed to have them on unless its foggy or driving conditions require them.
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
That sucks, every second car drives with them on
yeh i know. you just happened to find a copper that cared about it.

Hmm...maybe I better switch mine off before I get pulled over, cos I have my headlights and fog lights on auto, I still can't believe there is a law againt having them on until driving conditions are bad
Yea I though it was stupid, he told me when visibility was less than 100m
So i argued the fact that its personal opinion when it is not visible enough
Here in Qld, it is an offence to use fog lights unless it is in low visibility situations (foggy or smokey), and, the fog lights must not be used with the headlights on.
This makes sense because the fog lights are positioned down low to project light through the fog without reflecting off the fog spoiling your vision as happens when you use your headlights in fog.
Rules may be different in other states and countries.
Yes, I know every second car runs their fog lights all the time. Why?????? I have tried it with our SV6 and it only makes it more glary in close to the car, you can't see any further up the road.
Yea see In New Zealand we dont get fog so at night with headlights and spotlights on the cars look great !! I will put some photos up soon... Well I like it anyway
these new generation fog lights dont work anyway
those fitted to the VX were the only lense that acctually worked in fog. The lense on the VT ones blocked too much light, and the round ones VY/VZ dont project the light correctly to begin with, which is supposed to be a bright light aimed under the fog, which sits approx 10 cm off the road surface (thus lighting up the painted lines and making your life easier)
on the subject of fog lights, how do you change the bulbs in them? in the manual it says to take it to the dealer to do it, but i aint doing that!
Modern motor vehicles are more than capabale of exceeding the speed limit but just because they can doesn't mean it is legal to do so.
As for the time of day you had the fog lights on (NOT driving lights) makes absolutely no difference whatsoever as far as the law is concerned.
If you headlights are not providing adequate illumination under normal driving conditions I suggest that seriously consider getting them checked by a Dealer or alternatively have your eyesight tested. Not funny, many people suffer from a form of 'night blindness' it is a condition that results in less ability to see in the dark.
i'm pretty sure holdens market them as driving lights, but could be wrong, Ne one happen to know what gloes they take?
Chev badges are an instant fail
