My rotors are warped so getting the vibrations when braking although this is intermittant particularly noticable when cold or not used for some time.
I do 95% country driving between Sydney West and Canberra so they are still the original rotors and pads for 145k, so will change both there is still meat on the pads!
I find that the brakes are ok so unless an upgrade is relatively cheap probably stick to existing setup.
My question is where are the best deals for new rotors and pads or what type should I get?
Also how much should I expect pay to have them fitted.
Cheers
Thanks in Adavance
Seriously i wouldnt pay someone to fit them, there dead simple to do, there may even be a how-to here somwhere. I think gsl rallysport here has them and also Notanabbafan can do them too. Besides them go to the auto shop and buy them.
I have changed mine on all types of cars, they are easy as. If your not sure check out the how to on painting brake calipers, if you follow that then it will give you a rough idea. THe whole thing should only take about 15 mins a wheel including jacking the thing up. If still unsure shoot me a pm i might be able to help, just make sure you get the right pads, a while back i went into supercheap and got some wrong labelled pads, spent about half an hour wondering why they wouldn't fit, then compared them to the old ones...
but this is one of those parts of the car where if your not sure, dont attempt it despite what everyone says.
If you leave a calliper bolt loose or pinch a flexi hose you could find yourself in serious strife when it comes to hit the anchors in a hurry ...
I picked up a set of DBA Street Series slotted discs and Bendix GCT pads for 220 bucks.
Thanks guys will probably get front and rear sets will check out ebay and Mr Spares
I decided I'll get a mechanic to fit my pads, its sounds easy but its not something I want to screw up. The local brake and clutch place wouldn't have a bar of fitting pads that they don't test and supply. The local Repco said they will fit them for $131. But the winner for me is the local Goodyear who will fit them for $75.
I know its easy to fit them yourself, but in the scheme of things $75 isn't a lot to get your pads done professionally. Incidently, I'm getting QFM HPX front (police spec) and rear pads October deal from GSL Rallysport; all up its $131.
So all up I'm paying a little over $200 to get decent front and rear pads supplied and fitted when the local brake and clutch place would supply and fit the equivalent pads for $720.
Rotors, I'm not too fussed over, because they can be had anywhere, and alot of the ebay guys do good pricing, but as has been said, front and rear QFM HPX (in police spec full face fronts) delivered for $131 is a hard deal to go past bias aside!!! You're talking about a better performing pad than something like a Bendix Ultimate, but with virtually no rotor wear or dust, and good cold bite.

Sick of paying too much for high performance brake pads? Want high performance and cold bite with low rotor wear?
