I live 25k's from work, and I travel up West Coast Highway every morning (nice and cruisey drive as opposed to heading up the freeway ... yuk.) I average about 11.5L/100 in city driving, but recently I was bloody surprised to see my usage , after a fresh fill up of 98, do me 8.3L/100 going from Perth -> Dwellingup. Fair enough I was maintaining average speed of 110-120km/ph but I was rather stoked with that. At either rate, mixed with some city driving and freway/highway driving you should be able to get anywhere between 550-600+ k's out of a full tank.

It will prob be a little better than the VT but nothing major.
Depends on what driving you do but a mix of highway and city will see me get about 600 KM out of a tank, I have gotten 780 KM out once when I did bout 20% city 80% highway which was a decent effort.

Yeah, but were talking about the 190kw Alloytech in the SV6, not the stocker.

I have gotten as low as 8.4L/100km on the highway but normally its a bit below 10. Around town can differ for me; someimes I'm a granny and get 11.2, at the moment I'm getting 12.2

How do you guys get this low?
I don't drive that hard and never got that low on my last two cars - V6 VT autos.

There lies your answer; the alloytec is more fuel efficient than the ecotec, vz transmissions were different too, with the 5 speed auto a lot better than the vt trans.

Yeah Bullit, I managed 8.3L/100 on my way from Perth -> Dwellingup (in the hills southeast of perth) averaging about 110-130km/ph. Ended up getting about 720kms out of that tank because of the driving I did down there heh. And yeh, the VT Ecotech was the EXACT same motor used in the VS series. Thereby lies a problem, being that the VT weighed a fair bit more than the VS did, and then when you consider they didn't actually make any changes to the motor either ....

YIKES !! My Berlina 175 sits on between 7.5 and 8.5 on the highway at about 110 km/h. 12 is downright scary, sounds like an oxygen sensor problem or something similar.

The White VZ (175) is getting around 8.0 L/100 on the highway and 12 is around town. I'm happy with that.

From my experience, i have always run 3 tanks of unleaded after a tank of pulp. With PULP i average high 9`s very low 10`s. I get better economy from unleaded and despite popular belief i cant tell any diff between the 2 fuels power wise.

I'm not surprised about the premium unleaded part. I've had a couple of Holden badged late model Opels that absolutely hated standard Australian unleaded (even though that was all they supposedly needed) and gained torque and driveability on PULP. I would think that any Australian made car would be de-tuned enough that it coped better on our fuel and they wouldn't bother adding too much flexibility to the way data from the knock sensor was handling. i.e. advance the ignition timing etc.

PULP must have some good qualities though,if i dont run a tank of PULP every 4th tank my milage is poor?? and if i run it on PULP full time the milage is poor. Never done a 50/50 split over a month

"Drive more and worry less" is my motto. If you need to worry about using a xtra couple of ltrs per 100, buy something "Sensible" Barina maybe???????

Here's some actual measurements for you all. Friday arvo, had done 96kms (odo), all urban, yielded 12.4L/100km. Drove 142 kms on the highway to Cleve so by 238 kms (odo) had yielded 10.4L/100km. Did the return trip this arvo. When I got into my driveway odo read 369.9km, used average 9.8L/100km. Highway cruising FTW!
