taking my vz sv6 to holden tommorow as its got a grinding noise when i revirse,,not sure if its the diff or the auto,,any body els had same prob,,does it more if parked on a slope,,
sounds like ur brake pads.
you should be able to hear if its in the trans or diff anyway.
try rolling in reverse then putting in neutral(whilst still rolling) that will help tell wat it is.
not break pads there knew,,theres no back lash in diff like some commys do have, its sounds like its grabbing on somethink...owell thanks for help,,see what holden says tommorow as it still under warranty so they better fix it
hmmm new brake pads ey
your problem might lay there.
was it grinding before you installed the new pads?
yes, and it worse when on slope
Have you jacked the back up and spun the wheels??
My park brake shoes were dragging after a recent service...
Got readjusted but still make a slight scraping sound in reverse...
Inside the gearbox is a cylinder with teeth. Because Holden use cheap crap, these teeth break off, even in new cars. It can happen when thrashing or just accelerating hard on the highway. Anyway, it should only cost about $700-800 but when they break, you will have no reverse at all.
The mechanics will tell you to put in a whole new transmission, but that is bullshit, just find a mechanic who is competent enough to take it apart and replace with a Heavy Duty part.
There in lays the problem :P
speaking of auto's. Is there anywhere that anyone knows of that you can pick up a comprehensive workshop manual? when it comes time to trick up my tranny i would rather do it myself then pay someone else the cost of the parts X2 to do a simple job.
Financial Crisis? What crisis? Fuels cheap and so are parts. I dont see no crisis.
