Default Auto Transmission

Hi
I recently bought a second hand vz Acclaim from a dealer (2 months ago). Today I felt that it takes bit longer than usual to change from 1st to 2nd and from 2 to 3rd I felt a very small break then I tested the over drive button while driving at about 70 Kmps and looks like there are no changes weather it is on or off. There are only 70,000 Km on the clock. Can it be a big problem. I don't have a clue about these new engines and thank you in advance. One more thing 2 weeks ago when I was driving home from Sydney Crosse control set button stop responding (I couldn't set it after breaking) but it started working when I stopped the engine and started again.
Thanks again

The button you refer to as an over drive button is not an overdrive button. It is a power/economy shift mode button. ie, in power mode it holds lower gears for longer when accelerating. In economy mode it up changes earlier. It has no effect on the rpm in top gear. I'm guessing you may have bumped the off button on the cruise control in your last question.

A shift kit will improve it much better. Trust me. Stage 2 shift kit is what you need.

Also try giving it a service with new tranny filter and fluid.
