    Default 5W-30 oil for alloytec?

    Hi Guys,

Today i bought some Castrol Edge sport 5w-30 for my 175 alloytec as well as a ryco oild filter(only brand i could find).

Now before i put this into my car, i feel it might be worth asking... even though it says to use 10W-30 is 5W-30 going to be fine? or should i look for another brand of oil?

And I think I remember reading that the oil filter lid needs to be tightened to a certain tension. what tension is it?

Sorry if im asking common questions

5w-30 is fine, holden recommends 5w or 10w30

oil cap, just do up until it stops, just give it a firm nudge, its only 20nm or something, 24mm head

Correct. Also the thinner 5w oil will get you better fuel economy, less friction etc.

just to add, 5w/10w-30 is the same thing basically, although the advantage of the 5w is faster flow on cold startup and better for if you live in alpine areas

with all alloy motors they can be noisy on startup, the 5W will be better for this as oil run's faster when cold.
the 30 part of the oil is a little light as it is cumming into summer but will still be more than adequete.
