Default The sv6 i'm about to buy.

I'll be picking it up this afternoon.
or tomorrow depending on finance.
i want to keep it as stock looking as i can.
its middle '06 i think.
i've been living back in vr world so im not sure on what i can do to this new car.
there's the usual,
two hole mod, mafless(can anyone give me a round-a-bout price?)
i was thinking extractors, but not an exhaust, will the stock exhaust handle this, i dont want it to be too loud is my only drama. so i guess i could have a second muffler with the old tip put on.
any other good ideas guys?

looks neat and white will keep its resale value too. Tuning is in 2 worlds right now. The biggest tuners around claim that currently mafless tunes are not available due to the complex maps etc. etc etc. But there are a few little ones which claim they have done it. A standard dyno tune with MAF can get you around 150rwkw. The price of the tune will vary but is usually around $1000. To get to that figure you will be looking at extractors, cold air intake and possibly a few other bits a pieces.
It is possible to mount extractors to the standard exhaust, although SOME modifying to the flanges or the cats may be needed. Not to sure. If you leave the standard mufflers on it i would not expect that the car will be any louder than stock. Maybe larger induction roar

Why is it people think aftermarket exhausts are all loud??
you can have no mufflers or ten of the things, depends what you want. if I were you, get your extractors, get a nice mandrel bent system and get the shop to put an extra offset high flow muffler in, it will sound different but not much louder than stock, if at all.

If its post Feb 2005 it will have LSD, side airbags as standard and a silver manifold on the engine. Pre Feb 2005 will have a black manifold and no LSD and side air bags as standard.

Ok, since picking up the car, getting the windscreen replaced cause it had chips in it. and driving it round to work and what not.
i've decided i really like this car.
i am not going to leave it as stock of course.
after i sort a set of headers and a cat back and maybe the two hole mod i'll look at getting a tune of some sort. more than likely a mail order tune.
can you guys explain to me briefly and in the most simple way.
what the sensors do, i realise that the MAF stands for mass air flow, and that it can be taken out... for the "mafless" tune, i have no idea what that really means.
and i guess with a mail order it will just plug into the ecu?
and if i have the acronym right what is an otr?
thanks guys.

otr is over the radiator it usually refers to the cai- cold air induction so you will see those two acronyms together otrcai...

It is the best way to get air straight into the throttle body bypassing the maf thus the need for a mafless tune....

OK. so the lack of maf causes the need for the mafless tune.
which does what. tells the computer how much air is going into the system. i'd assume alot seeing its a straight wide mouth pipe.(i've seen pics and it all makes sense now. lol.)
