Default What is the widest wheel size that I can fit into My VZ

My Question is what is the widest wheel size I could fit in my VZ SS?
Front & Rear...

I remember that Pontiac GTO had a factory defect because it was equipped with extra wide wheels that caused tires to by ripped apart
So I'm trying to be extra cautious here.

Thanks in advance

What size wheels do you want? (18, 19, 20 inch?)
Also how low is the vehicle, what suspension set up do you run?

235 profile is the sort of comfortable size id go with, you can fit 245's but you will need to roll your guards

it all depends on the height of you car, 245's will fit easily with fe2 suspension. porbebrly even a inch or so lower

dunno why people keep saying they dont, hsv's have 245's

ive seen a vz with 265's but it was standard height

i have 245's with ssl's and the rear guards rolled

many Thanks to you guys for the answers above...
although still I didn't get a precise answer, it's my fault that I didn't provide enough info.

1- I'm not planning to lower my car... even if I will change the suspension I'll make sure to keep the same height.

2- I was looking for an 19 or minimum 18 inch rims.

3- now I have the factory's 17" rims. + 235 40 hankook tires

your offset is incorrect if you scrape with 225's on 20's...

I have 20x8's with 245's, had to tap up one small section of rear guard a touch and now i have no scraping. running equivalent to SL front SSL rear.

Not sure what other answers you are after?

stock height you can go 245's if not larger but they will hang out of the guards.

For wheels it is all about getting the offset correct. 8" fit easily, 8.5" with offset to suit will but your goin to start hangin outside the wheel arches if you go much more.

do you need extra wide tyres for a reason or just for fun? The purpose may help give better answers.

ok saw a vz ss today with 265 rear tyres, sat a little bit higher then mine so im goin to assume it has SL's or simmilar in the rear, the owner wasnt around so i couldnt ask too much about them, but the guards where rolled and didnt look to be any closer to the guard then my car, horizontally anyways,

so as long as you have the correct offest you can fit some descent size tyres. and still be pretty low

I want better acceleration & handling.

I don't intend to change my car height.

what is the widest & straight fit wheels & tires for that
