Unhappy Rear Blinker remains on + message

Hi All,

I know this has been posted previously, but i have 2 problems.

Problem 1. Rear blinker remains on - dealer advised it is the BCM = they said they must replace the following: BCM + 2 keys($480) + globes($54) + rear light ($255).

Q1. Do they really need to replace all these parts to fix the BCM problem?
Q2. Does anyone know where i can get a cheap BCM?

Problem 2. Since checking my rear blinker - which the casing has melted..i get an error on my LCD " Brake light fail". I have checked the globes and they work and the message remains.

Q1. Has anyone experienced this, is there a special way the globes must fit in the casing of the light?

The error message for the rear brake light had occurred once when i purchased the vehicle(second hand) - the mechanic checked the light and it has taken a year to re-appear.

Any tips would be appreciated.

if all the indicators on one or both side stick on it is a bcm issue, yes to the dealer they need to replace the BCM
pm me the part number & ill see if i have one, if not i can repair yours.
you will need to fix the light where it has melted to make sure the globe fits correctly.
the BCM checks the current used during light operation to work out if the globes are ok.
there is a reset procedure for it, see att.

i have this issue everynow and then but i think the dealer is pulling your leg when he says you need 4 globes and tail lights.

you do need the keyfob and the bcm tho, as they have to reprogram the car.

i would replace the light that has melted but all you need is the key fob and not the whole key.

i wouldn't pay for the globes and i'd go to a wreckers for the tail light.

from what i remember a mate was qouted $120 for a new bcm.

Or get Bob to fix your existing BCM - no key reprogramming, maybe just a couple of globes and housings to replace due to the melted plastic. Wreckers are the go, or surplus stock people like Holmart or NVU.

Ashbox - if your mate was quoted $120, that wouldn't be new, or from Holden!! A mate of mine with a S2 VT had a BCM problem after he installed a new stereo (??), and the new one by the time it was fitted cost him over $500!! (he didn't talk to me before he just headed for the dealer) Over $350 of that was for the part itself. (scumbags...)

Cheerz!
