If your just driving around the city in and out of carparks xmas shopping with the aircon on and no highway driving ...15l might be normal...but if its 50/50 it should be a lot better...and you better get holden to check it...it all comes down to your average speed...i get 14.5 with about 30kms average speed

I do the peak hour runs into Sydney every day, and over the week I average 13-16L with no real highway (bit of motorway sometimes - avg speed 33-35km/h) and that's in a V8. Just regular driving, no grannying or hooning.
My mate, who admittedly drives outside of peak hour, but still around the Sydney 'burbs, in his SV6 gets 11-12L.
15 either sounds like a car out of tune, REALLLLLLY bad traffic, or a right foot that needs adjustment!

Something is wrong there. Mine hovers between 10.4 and 10.6 for city driving.

I get that around driving on sydney freeways to, then climbs up to 13-14L between work & home which is only 5.5kms.
Depends where u drive the car & for how long if there short trips in the city or suburbs 14-15l is normal.

Aside from the traffic, trip lengths etc it depends a lot on your driving style too obviously. All else being equal, a sedate fuel-wise driver will save up to 30-40% over an an agro driver.
That same mate did a trip to Bathurst recently and got 8-9 on the highway, I get ~10 in the SS.
I'm surprised you're getting 13-15, my Ecotec used to get 12-12.5 very consistently over the week (same peak hour runs etc) and the alloytecs are supposed to be a bit better again?
You must boot it a bit ay?

I agree with u 100% on that mate.
Thats good for an SS, i usually get around 7-8 on the highway. lately on the short trips to & from work its dropped down to around 13l per 100km.
Yeah i do give it the boot every now & then.

yeah i say it would because it has to be strong enough to hold the tonne so it porb weighs a bit

does the tonner have shorter gear/diff ratio meaning it sits at higher RPM at speeds than the average sedan does?

no tonners use 3.08 lsd,
i dont know whats with utes but they seem to whore through fuel than sedans/wagons do, maybe from different tune?

driving style firstly dictates fuel consumption.... but city going for an auto sedan its close to par i spose, again ive learned no matter even if its "built the same as the car next to it" each car will slightly differ, thats a fact. u can improve the car greatly by keeping services at least par with the schedule that holden provide, and changing to a premium fuel along with a tune - lets not start a fuel debate either...
for example im driving an 05vz manual ute, i run 98RON fuel and on occasion in the bush when i cant get hold of 98 ill run 95RON, i do my own tuning and friday i had consumption figures down to 7.3lt/100 on open road with an increase to 9lt/100 in heavy traffic. if ya dollar consious weigh up the costs of having a tune, but as an enthusiast its worth it and brings the engine to life.

From what i've heard (and i have no actual experience with tonners so feel free to correct) the tonners and Adventura's are more efficient with the gen III, for whatever reason the Alloytec just drinks like an Irishman on St Patrics day in those, i'm assuming its the extra weight. Although i love my Alloytec's i have to admit in factory form they lack torque, which is what you need in the heavier models. i know from experience that the statesman is a thirsty prick with the Alloytec, and fairly gutless.
Saying that 15/100 seems excessive still, My Sv6 before the tune etc. was getting under 10 on the drive to work which is 50% highway, 50% sydney peek and thrashing the guts off her for hour long periods got me 13-14/100.. at worst (with tune take 1-1.5/100 off).
Although its expensive i recon take to CHE, get tune/extractors/cats/exhaust and do the two hole mod. But to make that money back on the fuel you save may take a while.. although if it pulls your consumption down significantly it may well pay its self off quickly.
