Default Last exhaust question.

Hi.

Just wondering if theres much point installing a vz ss exhaust system to a bog standard vz wagon. Im not after noise but i am wondering if there would be any difference made to the car, i.e a good idea or bad idea... the exhaust is only gonna set me back $30. The more i read this quesition the stupider it sounds lol

cheers guys very handy & resourceful site by the way.

hey mate im not sure that a ss exhaust will if a wagon but if its off a ss wagon then it will
it might sound abit diffrent beacuse of the difrent mufflers and it might give u a little better fuel cuz its breathing better
i got a full system on my vz and pacemaker headers and i get bout 50 - 75km more outta a tank
hope that helps u out

i did it to my sedan after member andyman did it to his wagon.

Basically - no, it wont do much.

Fuel economy is still the same, maybe slightly better, but nothing overall impressive.

The only thing is at idle my car gumbles a little bit outside, and under WOT it growls a bit rather then whine.

Only problem is you need to make up a second bracket to weld to the chassis, and mine has broken away so tomorrow morning I have to take it all off to re-weld the damn thing back onto the car as its vibrating and making a noise.

Also at idle, say at a traffic light, you feel the car vibrate more. When I took the standard exhaust off I noticed it had a big vibration damper about half way down the pipe, which the SS one didnt, so I'm putting it down to that and because the new one doesnt have it im feeling the whole thing vibrate.

For $30 its worth doing to kill time one Saturday arvo. I also replaced the gaskets while I was at it for a couple of bucks each, and you need 2 new rubber mounts to mount the second exhaust to the new bracket your gonna weld to the car.
