VZ s pack or BF xr6?
Hi i am currently looking at either the vz s pack ute or the 05 BF xr6 ute. Both are abound the same price.
Any reason why i should get the holden? I have checked both out, and the they both drive very well.
I am not really car minded so i dont know to much about under the hood
Thanks for any advice

Hehe, just take whatever answer you get with a grain of salt - you're among the Red Team here
Falcons generally handle a bit better, Commodores generally have a better build quality/reliability. It's much of a muchness really, the cars are built be very similar in the marketplace. I'd read some proper car reviews of each model and see what the reviewers pick up on.
Oh, and if you buy a Ford you're a dirty traitor

Hi Mate,
And welcome to the forums
Go the holden; you get good power from the alloytec V6. which will also give you better economy over the I6 4.0 ltr
Thats my opinion, its you money so really up to you...
Good Luck with your car buying

Sounds like there is much of a muchness so ill do some research thanks for the advice danja.
I do like the holdens interior i am actually surprised at how similar it is to my dads. He has a 05 grange.
In the end however economy may play the answer, the dedicated xr6 gas falcons seem pretty good, but again ill see if you really save money in the long run
Actually been reading the forums for a while just never really posted, currently have a vs wagon

I've herd the XR6's have weak diffs and they have suspension probs when the kms get higher, not sure if the utes have this problem but my uncle had this problem with his sedan and he herd others having the same prob.

pretty sure the ford gets better fuel economy and will go faster too. Also the BA has the 5 speed auto dont they?
Ford for V6's
Holden for v8's

Having owned both, the VZ drives a whole lot better with its IRS arse end. The Falcon has a far better motor than the Alloytec and responds well to basic mods (exhaust,Tune,CAI) It will smoke the 190 in the SV6. No problem with the diff. Im a Ford guy, and the Holden is so much better, A Holden ute with the Barra motor would be the perfect 6 ute.

theres two parts of your statement that are wrong
basic falcon are only 4sp, with the option of 6sp
ford have inline 6's not v6's

after working on both, the ba/f falcons are prone to rust, and interior bits and pieces wear a bit(eg gear stick and handbrake silver bits are stickers not paint, they peel off, steering wheels rubber breaks down)
on petrol the do go better in power, gas is slow with the outdated venturi gas system they have.
commodore utes handle better, interiors are pretty good now since they've been updated from back in the vt's, 6-speed manuals and alloytec are a great combination and very good on fuel if driven reasonably, alloytec on gas with a injection setup would be a better combination than the falcons factory gas system,
as said though, its much of a muchness, just go with what feels more comfortable to you and meets your needs

I drove an AU Fairmont for a while, and thought the engine was more responsive and torquey than the Ecotec - they have a distinctly different feel. Not sure how much the I6 has changed since then.
On the down side, that car went through catastrophic alternator, radiator and transmission (auto) failure in a single year, and the interior was ****e (especially considering it was one of the luxury specs).
It did get pretty good economy though, it was pretty easy to pull 11-12 in city driving with the 4spd auto. Good luck getting that with the Ecotec 4sp.

Dude I have owned both. Fords will hold an extra 100kg in the tray over holdens but the holden will tow more.
Moto's fit in the falcon tray better.
The I6 is way more torquey and the 4spd auto is an old gear box but will smash the hold auto and manual off the line any day.
It comes down to which ride you like better (i prefer the falcon interiors and ride)
Don't take a ford to ford to get serviced (unless in waranty) ... probs same for holden.
end of the day, and as much as people on both sides of the fence will argue. afterall the little differences they are the same. They don't have any european flare and handling. But both are the bees knees of utes.
oh and they make you want to puch lo-lux drivers in the head for driving such a pos handling and weak as **** engines

What is with these hi-lux tools. I sat behind one the other day that was lowered into the weeds. It looked like when it was driving down the road that it had no compression or rebound from the shocks, like a never ending road of corrogations. Bet they handle like a wet thong in the shower
