okay ive done this both numerous times successfully and once unsuccessfully
If you disconnect the battery, take the keys out of the ignition then remove the air bag module (horn pad) and take note of the way the connectors connect you should be fine.
The one time I set off the SRS it was either I had the key in the ignition with the battery connected, or I put the yellow connector in the wrong way, because either way when I started the car it came up with an SRS fault which I had to have cleared. I was in a rush and realise I hadnt followed my own advice with this one.
Once an SRS fault is set it HAS to be cleared by tech 2, the theory and law being that an SRS fault can be a potential danger so if the car has recognised a fault, even if it comes good, a dealer (ie who has tech 2) has to have the car back to inspect it and give it the all clear.
If you dont disconnect the battery the theory is when you disconnect the airbag the car will detect it and warn you at next start up as the BCM (or some module) is still active, but I think this is bollocks, I think the issue was I put the connector in the wrong way so when I started the car and it scanned for the air bag it couldnt find it.
Either way had to get Holden to reset it after an argument
But that said Ive done it 5 or 6 times now to VZ's in the carport without an issue, just disconnect the battery and make sure the keys arent in the ignition!
another warning too is if you do fcuck up you can potentially set off the air bag, which would hurt the face if you copped it, but Ive never heard of that happening - just something to keep in mind.
