Try this,

hold up and down arrow buttons, turn ignition on, wait for confirmation, then hold set until it says its clear.

I've been using Nulon 10W40 (I think??) full synth for my last couple of changes. Seems like nice enough oil, but I did get a little evaporation over a time. (I change my oil every 7500Ks now) I say evaporation, because it's not leaking it, and as far as I know it's not being burnt either - exhaust is too clean for that.

Some people will say to only use Mobil 1 - Meh, well it's good oil - but it's a damned rip-off! And with the Alloytec sump capacity at around 6.5 litres, a change with Mobil 1 is getting pretty spendy! I get a 6L container of Nulon for about $55-60, and an additional litre bottle to top it off. Gives me a half litre to top it up with later.

Make sure when you change the oil to do the filter as well. The filter in the Alloytec is a pretty poky little thing - not all that much room for the filter media itself..... so I don't see it being as efficient over longer periods as a bulkier one. They're cheap anough anyway from Supercheap or Ricebarn....

We had the service oil light warning on my son's VZ. If you look for the instructions on how to clear this message you won't find it. You have to use the same process as when you clear the service interval reminders.

The funny thing is, whilst my VY service handbook tells you how to clear these messages, the VZ one doesn't.

Nothing needs reflashing - whether you work at Holden or not, you have bad info there I'm afraid....

Unfortunately vzchick, they ripped you.

(unfortunately becoming more typical when a lady brings a car in - they think they can tell them anything. A mechanic quoted my ex sister in law $65 to replace a headlight globe - standard H4 - but claimed it was more expensive because it was a Celica....)

You can reset those service reminders yourself through the trip buttons. Unfortunate that you didn't have a look around here before you took the car in....

(there's a bunch of threads describiing the procedure)

hmm sorry phreddy but the "service engine oil", is a mistake on holdens behalf, "service engine oil" is meant for over seas models, the message for australian cars is only, say "30,000km service due"

if you want it fixed push for it to be done under warrenty even if its out, because its very much a warrenty item
