I'm looking at a 2005 VZ Berlina wagon with 113,000km. They're asking $17k.
Is it worth putting an offer on (wanting to trade my VT Acclaim) ?

My brother got a VZ Berlina Sedan for about 18k with about 58000 on it no more than 9 months ago if you are looking try holden dealers they will most likely have ex fleet vehicles with 50-70k on the clock at around the same price
Thx Paytz, was hoping to get it for $10k changeover, cos of the k's but doubt they will go for it. Holden dealers here don't seem to have them, at least I haven't found any.

You wont get much over $2000 trade in for a VT acclaim, if it is in good condition you are better off trying to sell it privately.
its over priced, unless it hasnt got a mark on it, and has good hbd options

I paid $14K for 10/04 berlina with 88k kms at fixed price auction a month or so ago..![]()
Thanks to all for your input. I based 113k kms on approx 20k km p.a. as an average, and red book showing a max avg of 75k km. I did see an acclaim of similar vintage with over 250k km for about $12k !!!
I'll go look on the weekend. I have seen only one VE Berlina, 2006 with 88k km for $18k, but looking at the dealership, I got an uneasy feeling, plus its too far away for me.

Thats overpriced for that many K's in my opinion. Not that 113,000 is a massive amount, the car is probably perfectly fine, but I would be asking for less.
I am now the proud owner of said Berlina. Agreed on $11.5k changeover, based on $3.5k for the VT. Probably could have gotten more for it private sale, but now I don't have to bother about it. The a/c compressor was cactus, and there was a myriad of warning lights that randomly popped up every now and then, so I'm glad to be rid of it.
Took advice from a previous thread, guy offered $12.5k changeover, I told him $11.5k and I sign, he 'checked with his boss', and said no. So I gave him my card and said I'd think about it, and if he could do better to call me. I'm sure his 'boss' was watching through the window, 'cos I didn't even get a chance to step away before the 'boss' appeared and asked what I would agree to. Told him $11.5k and I'd sign today and he agreed.
I get the feeling if I had said $11k, I probably would have got it for that, but anyway, I'm happy.![]()

17k is way to much for it, glad ur happy, make thingie in the my ride section
Thats not a bad deal in the end, congrats on your purchase![]()
Meh, if you're happy then that's all that matters, regardless if it's too much or not.
The bottom line is the change over deal, & if your happy then sweet.
I'm in the same boat my VT wagon is just about cactus & I'm been thinking
about either a VY or VZ , but now I'm starting to think more of the lines of a VZ.
Just a matter of finding one now.
Good on ya! 11.5 changeover is quite good. I only got a grand for my old VR Calais when I traded it in for the VZ, but the compressor was dead as a dodo and it was nearing summerSometimes its easier to almost give the car away than privately sell it. Its a pain in the ass that you don't want to deal with. Enjoy your new purchase!
look at the website redbook, it tells you the current prices, wholesale retail, trade ins etc. Very informative. I bought an ex telstra vz berlina that had 92000 ks for 18 thousand a year ago. SO one with 113k today should be around the 16k mark, cheers.
