    Default VZ SV6 Diff oil

I wanted to change my Diff oil in my VZ SV6 but don't know how. Any clues in how to do so and what do I need.

I tried looking everywhere for this info

    Thanks,
    Shaun

True, Matt. Diff oil in my car will be right for the next few yrs.

As for the Coolant 5 yrs is a damn long time. My car has just done over 47500 & i did the coolant 2-3 weeks ago. The car is 4 yrs old this month

    what oil was used?

i generally change the oil in the diffs at either the 60 or 75,000km usually pretty contaminated by then, although we have about 5 vzs left in our fleet so i dont have to worry about that now

its interesting that the diffs whining, maybe the oil wasnt right?

A whiny diff isnt good, and its the oil inside the diff housing that forces the pinion and drive wheel together ...

those bw diffs usually do pinion bearings, other than being a average single spinner or a weak lsd that dosnt like anything more that wet grass the differentials themselves dont give to many problems

well if you use castrol, you use SAF-XA in lsd's Without the additive that holdens says cause its allready in the oil, or if its a single spinner LSX90, SAF-XA can be used in the single spinner fine, but seals may start to leak after a while cause they dont have syntheitc oil type seals in them

Oil breaks down / gets contaminated over time. I just had my diff & auto serviced (05 sv6 62k on the clock) and the change in the car is great. No more binding up ( clunking ) in the diff and the lsd works better now. The auto will hold the car on a steep hill no throttle or brakes without rolling back at all. The gear changes are crisp now not that it was ever bad but I just think you should get them done on a regular basis. I prefer to get things looked at and serviced before they brake down.
The guys at workshop ( Preston autos & diffs in Melbourne's north) did a great job.
Does anyone know how often Holden says in between services? I can't find it in manual.
Anyhow thats just my 2c worth.

5spd are sealed for life kind of thing and dont require replacement under "NORMAL" conditions, like anyone drives in normal conditions, utter load of b/s i believe they need to be changed, every 100,000 would be what id do

    4sp is every 105,000km
