Hey all, read this forum for quite a bit and helped me a heap in setting up my car audio and am now hoping you can help me fix my car, lol.
Well as I've said I spent most of yesterday setting up my car audio which works just fine. Not really necessary information, but good to know =]
Anyway, we've gone and installed the speakers in the doors (the guide posted on this forum did help a bit). We only did the front doors as I have 6x9's in the parcel shelf at the back.
So once the door trims where back on, the door locks didn't seem to clip back in properly. We could hear them sliding down the metal but they didn't clip into place and open/close properly.
Locked the doors, came back in the morning and as previously stated all my doors won't open. Can't get the boot/doors open off the key nor If I put the key in the door and turn it.
Hoepfully there's someone out there that can help me with my dellema i'm facing, as it's a shame for this new audio gear to go to waste whilst I can't get in there.
Cheers.
Possible you've drained your battery somehow, but I'm surprised the key doesn't work in the lock if you open it manually?
can you hear the actuators working at all? does the lights flash when you go to unlock it,

Not too sure why the battery died so quickly though. Just as an experiment we put in a new battery (fully charged) and left it overnight and this one went flat as well.
The remote wire in the amp was unplugged so it shouldn't have been draining power but for some reason the battery has gone flat over night. We'll have to disconnect the amp completely and see if the battery drains again.
Seeing as with the VZ's you can turn the radio on without the key being in acc we have a feeling this is running the amp 24/7 and killing the battery. However we can't get to the options menu to disable this as we recently found out if you start the ignition with the seats out of the car it sets off a SRS Airbag warning light. So we have to get that fixed before we can do anything else.
Thanks for the help though, I'll get back you to see if we get everything sorted out.
So a lesson to all who read this, don't take out your seats and start your ignition or else you set of warning lights in your cars.
It turns off automatically after 1 hour to stop this happening, annoying actually when I'm working on the car and want music, it keeps turning off just when the song gets to the good bit
I hear SRS warnings can only be reset by Holden unfortunately. I'm guessing you have side airbags? I read in another thread if the car is started with any of the SRS components missing it will trigger the warning. However we can't get to the options menu to disable this as we recently found out if you start the ignition with the seats out of the car it sets off a SRS Airbag warning light. I don't think that happens tbh. I've been able to turn the radio on several hours, even the next morning, after taking out the key.
We're ringing our mechanic and seeing if his able to do it. If not, we'll have to ring up holden as you said. From what I've heard it's about $80 - 100 so it's not too bad I guess. But no side air bags that I know of. Only bought it the other week so i'm not 100% sure tbh lol.
none of the factory settings will affect the battery drain,
disconnec the amp for a night, if it dosnt go flat disconnect the head unit after that,
did you check that all the wiring is ok? did you use a wiring harness adapter, mine had a couple of wires around the wrong way, (constant and ignition) so check that, also did you use the 12volt output from the headunit as the amp trigger wire?

We took out the remote wire overnight and the battery drained again. However I have a feeling that was an old battery that was dead anyway. We recharged the battery last night and put it in this morning. It's been on now for about 13-14 hours and seems to be going strong. We'll see how it is tomorrow morning.Originally Posted by andyman

- Yeah, we used a wiring harness. I'll double check the wiring that everything is as it should be. Thanks for the tip.
- Yes we used a 12V output.
Oh and our mechanic can reset the SRS Airbag warning for us too so that will save us going to a Holden dealer.
If it was the amplifier draining it, wouldn't there be a light on the amp to tell you it's on? Plus it would be warm/hot.
EDIT: By the way, do you have a factory headunit, or an aftermarket one?
Woke up this morning and the battery is fine. It was defiantly the amp that drained the battery the first time. Must have just been a coincidence that the second battery we put in was flat.
This is my deck: Link
EDIT: Got my mechanic to stop the alarm for me, charged me $40. Cheap deal imo. Now we can figure out whats killing my battery and all is good, hopefully lol.

Ah, no wonder yours doesn't turn off automatically, it's an aftermarket deck![]()
Looked into the cabling a bit more and your right, the constant and accessories were the wrong way around. We'll fix that up tomorrow and it should all be sweet.
Just need to mount the amp in the boot and it's all good.
Thanks for all the help mate, much appreciated.
