Default Thinking of buying a VZ wagon

    Gday all,

Im thinking of buying a VZ wagon. My only requirements are that it must be an Acclaim.. Nice rims, 4 pwr windows and a few extra goodies I guess. I currently have a wagon on gas, Ford falcon and yes its cheap as hell to run but im a bit over it, its a 1997 model.

I know about the little niggles that the Ecotec has, but are there any particular things on the VZ with the alloytec that are bad? Like rear main seal, rear camber wear etc?

I just want something ultra reliable like my TH Magna I had, I drive a hell of a lot for work and im tired of bringing my car for random little stuff.

Yes it will probably be cheaper to keep my current car but u know sometimes u get over things.

Ive seen 120k odd wagons at dealers for 12k, 04 -05 models. Thats cheap as I reckon.

Please let me know anything I should look for.

PS I did read the FAQ forum, but really just looking for anything extra that someone has experienced etc.

    Thanks

no real issues with the alloytec, they are appearing to being reliable engine, no real leaking issues etc, tyres wear flat as,

if you carry loads the commodore wagon is far more practical and safer than an equivalent falcon ,

go for it they are great

I have just brought my VZ Wagon in HOT RED and it's super great to drive. Just remember to check the service books make sure they are all stamped ones with no stamps are missed services or serviced elswhere.

Always contact the last owner if you can as there always happy to brag about what has happened to the car when they owned it.

Also listen for diff noise and knocking also.

The VZ sedan I have has 20,000kms on a new set of tyres and no sign of bad wear yet - and I inspect them all the time expecting them to be shagged on the inside - not so! very very happy with the VZ
