Hi, This is a dumb one. I have replaced the fuel filter in my VZ and I think the filter may be around the wrong way.
Which end does the "out" end go on? The filter is a Ryco BTW.
The "T" piece end or the single line?
I'm feeling like a right twat so go easy.![]()
the out goes towards the t piece

I'm back.
Since installing the new filter the mileage on the dash has gone from 12's to 15.5 or more. It won't budge any lower. What the hell happened? Been through 2 tanks since the change now.
Thanks.
I don’t see how a new fuel filter could increase fuel economy. Did you do anything else to the car when you changed the filter? Driving with the AC on? Low tyre pressure?
did you disconect the battery, if you did, it rest the fuel consumption average, so it wont come down until you do more long distance driving or more driving in general
also make sure there isnt any leak, but ive never seen one of those fittings leak yet

I can have mine reading about 4.9 litres per 100 kays if I reset it on the motorway and have cruise control set, but as soon as my speed drops it goes back up and doesnt come down, as soon as it registers a lower speed the AVG SPEED goes down and fuel consumption goes up.
I reset mine after each refuel and despite the "average consumption" reading, always get about 600 kays to a tank.
Its a flawed system to begin with. The same way you can get "fuel very low" warning on yet you still have 13 litres in the tank which is good for another 100 kays of driving even in peak hour conditions ...
I suggest resetting the average fuel consumption and drive the highway for 10 mins, then you'll see it drop![]()
Thanks guys. Thats pretty much what I have done. It seems to be sitting on 14 with a 5 minute cruise at 100k's. So it's getting there.
Thank you.

is it easer to drop the tank or take the back chassis off??
yes its a pain, im trying to remember the tank in the crewwy, im pretty sure you have to take the tailshaft out, up to you whichever way you do it,
i havnt dropped a crewman tank yet so i cant say i know how the filter setup runs, i have been told before that there is no fuel filter reference listed on holden parts, only just the strainer that is fitted to all pump in cars

grip the plug on the lowest end of the lead, pull it firmly and directly back, then, undo the plug and swap it with the new one, make sure you dont overtighten it, its going into an aluminium head, if youve got some lying around, smear a little anti seize on the threads of the plugs
