Default Difference between 175 and 190 kw alloytec

hey guys what is the difference between the 175 alloytech and the 190? is it as simple as an ecu or is it all about cams and bore size? also whats with the lack there of. of torque with the holdens my old 98 falcon has more torque than the 05 alloytech.

Variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust valves for the 190 kw, the 175 only has variable valve timing on the intake side, also the 190 also has a 2 stage intake manifold.

The difference between the 175 and 190 is the 190 is a more refined engine with contineous variable cam phasing, it adjusts camshafts on the inlet side as well as the exhaust side as well while driving for a more response also a dual stage variable intake manifold chamber which opens and closes to adjust resonance tuning of the inlet airflow, effectively lengthening the intake for high torque at lower engine speeds and shortening them for high power and high revs.

So they are two slightly different engines. So i couldn't just bolt new air manifold and change ecu to get a 190 kw engine?

    ,

no if you wanted it to be a 190 you will need, 190 heads, wiring loom off a 190, manifold off a 190, possibly the idler to cam gear timing chains,190 ecu and then hope holden and tech 2 can link the ecu, tcm(if auto), bcm, icu etc etc, to work

lol cool what a waste of time. you think holden would have been cheap like ford and just change the ecu's lol like in thier new falcon xr6 t and the f6 only difference is the ecu

the lack of torque response is largely due to the electronic throttle control a dyno tune will greatly help with this.

Bloody hell how many more people are going to ask this question instead of doing a search?

But also, as you said Verds, it's like whats the difference between an XT and an XR6? Nothing ... oh wait ... a bodykit, is that all? Next.

Diff gears are a change making them quicker. Oh and the interior is better than the poverty pack unlike the sv6 which only has a different cluster

As far as I am aware the diff gears are the same between then XT and the XR6, doesn't matter to me either way as no NA XR6 or XT has ever been able to keep up with me one way or another period. So that brings me back to my original point, there is NO difference between an XT and an XR6 except for a bodykit.

at certain revs it opens and closes, to make the intake runner length shorter and longer at different rpms to supposidly make more torque

    yeah same t/b,

the ecu has the irmc and exhaust timing setting already in it, im not sure if it has the plug the the irmc motor though, but check it out, then see if it works
