G'day,
My young son was in the passenger seat of our VZ and decided he wanted a sip of mum's coffee which was sitting in the console cup holders. Obviously the coffee was hot and burnt his lips and he subsequently dropped the cup which sent coffee flowing down between the side of the passenger seat and the console. He also got really p*ssed off about it and kicked the crap out of the dash (there'll be a bit ofwhen I get home). Anyway the car now has the SRS Airbag Fault. I first thought he'd knocked a sensor or clockspring or something when he kicked the dash but after talking to a Holden tech it sounds more like the coffee has shorted the seat connection and caused the fault. Apparently even putting a map book down there can stretch the wires (pre-tensioners?) enough to cause a small voltage drop and set off the fault. Would you agree this is the more likely scenario?
If so a quick re-set should sort it then, problem is he wants $220 to do a diagnostic check first then re-set it. I figure if the fault comes back after the reset then I'll do the diagnostic.
Can anyone recommend someone in Perth who doesn't want to rape every customer who walks in the door? Youngs is already off the list.
pffff what a rort, i really hoped you laughed at the face of the service guy at the dealer.
any reputable workshop with a proper scan tool can reset the code, i dont know where to go though as i dont live in w.a

have you tried a different dealer?
Chev badges are an instant fail
Yeah rang around a bit but most still want $120 (minimum 1 hour labour). Not sure if I should get them to check it and hope it's reset itself or change the pre-tensioner bit and then get them to do it. If I get them to check it first and have to change the pre-tensioner anyway, I'll then have to go back and give them more dosh reset it again.
