Hi All, New to this forum. I have been ready many of the post in the VZ section.
I currently have two issue with my car. I recently when to Pedders to get a 28 point susp check. They have found 2 issue with the car.
1. They said that the castor arm bushes require changing, The car has only done 65,000kms.
2. They said that the power sterring rack end on the left side needs to be changed as their is a knocking noise inside the rack.
Are the above issue common to the VZ, since I brought the car I never had any issue, except for one - front end drivers side mades a bang/clunk noise when I hit a bump in the road. Holden service check it and found nothing.
One more things is I was thing about lower the vehicle as it currently has standard susp/springs. I was wondering if I could just change the springs or need to change the shockers as well. I just want the car to sit just above the tyre.
Any good place in Melbourne?
Firstly, get a second opinion.
When i has my 'ol N13, went there for the same thing. Told me a need a new steering rack, sold the car 50,000kms later, steering rack still fine. I wouldnt use Pedders again.
Never heard of any suspension issues with the VZ, ive only had my car for around 8 months.
That bang/clunk noise ur getting does it happen when you turn or just on a straight road when there's a bump?
Its best to get the springs/shocks as a package. You can change ur springs but if you do the original shocks will need replacing in about 6months anyway, as standard shocks aren't designed to work with lowered springs.
Im going to be lowering my VZ SV6 sometime this year. Going by what ive read about SV6 suspension, Monroe GT sport shocks & kings springs are a good combo. im thinking either kings lows or superlows.
Hope this helps mate.

The problem only occur when driving straight.
Where would be the best place to have the car lowered pro?
This was taken form website.GM Holden is delivering more than $6000 of extra features in the sporty new special edition VZ Commodore Lumina sedan and wagon.
Based on VZ Commodore Executive, with Holden’s advanced 175kW Alloytec engine and four-speed automatic transmission, the special edition Lumina comes equipped with a range of features, such as luxury sports suspension (sedan only), larger 17-inch alloy wheels, six-disc in-dash CD player, front and rear power windows and leather steering wheel, gear selector and handbrake handle.
late September until December 2005
Regarding the Susension in the Lumina is standard or FE2, Because on the car plates located at the frt its states STD.
Best to have a look on the compliance plate in the eng bay, its on the rite hand side above the headlight. Ive been told u can fit lowered spring to the FE2 suspension, they will work fine.
Its under the code SUS:
As for the clunk/bang noise, could be one of the shocks on the way out
Best place would be at ur local suspension dealer. Shop around, so u get the best price.

see the above image which I toke.
Looks like u got the standard suspension setup.

you can put lowered springs with standard struts, but the ride is terrible,
if the bang is made when hitting a sharp undulation in the road, i think thats pretty typical with most cars, as the suspension cant take up the sharp rise or fall quick enough, mine does, and is worse now after lowering it. its hard to tell though because you cant diagnose things like that over the internet
