    Default VZ fuel pumps

    Hi
I am building a shelby cobra kit car with a 6ltr Gen4 (L76) V8 crate engine and 6 speed transmission (out of a VZ) and am trying to sort out the fuel tank/pump situation.

An electrician recommended using the in-tank fuel pump unit (pump reg and sender) out of a VY, but after looking at a haynes manual it looks like it needs a return fuel line. I was led to believe that the gen 4 (ie the L76) would only need a single fuel rail to the front of the car, so that was what i had installed.

I went into the parts department at holden and they couldnt really tell me if the VZ pump only needs one line, or exactly what would be required. They seemed to think that there will still be a vapour return line from the engine back to the tank or something.

Does anybody know anything about these gen4 pumps? Or could recommend a better setup?

I would prefer an in-tank setup if possible (i have a custom tank that will have to be modified).

And does anybody know exactly what will be needed to get it all working?
I am pretty vague on what will be actually needed parts-wise, and what can be eliminated from the standard setup. Obviously i need a pump, a sender, and some sort of regulator to maintain the pressure. But exactly what model/part would be suitable?

I dont want to go too overboard on custom hi performance parts if possible, but i would like it to be able to handle that kind of thing if i mod the engine etc at a later date.

    thanks

well the l76 6lt was used in the vz's so thats where your info may be different cause the vy's used the gen111 ls1 engine,

im assuming the fuel system will be the same as the alloytec, where the fuel return runs from a t piece at the outlet side of the fuel filter and back into the tank which houses the pressure regulator, i havnt had a vz fuel tank apart yet but ive replace a return hose,

there is a thread around here somewhere that shows how it hooked up, ill try and find it

post 9 shows how the fuel lines work
