ok guys ,is their wiring hidden somewhere 4 speakers in the parcel shelf of a sv6,their is a place 4 speakers but i carnt see any wires
You need to run the wires. They can be found beside your drivers seat under the plastic trim. You get both left and right hand from there.
I might run a set of speakers in the parcel shelf then![]()

ok thanks guys
Personally I wouldn't bother. Good speakers in the rear doors and good splits up front + sub is better than spilts 6x9's and sub anyday. Reason being that you want the sub to handle all the bass, and having 6x9's just makes too much bass and not enough midrange in the cabin. Mate of mine is a pro car audio installer, HIGHLY recommends previously mentioned setup as the way to go, been in the industry 10+ years. But that's his opinion, it's what I have gone with, and having had both setups in the past, is better by far.

I have an SV6 with standard 6*9's in the parcel shelf, looking at ungrading the speakers at some stage. Is there wires in the rear doors to take speakers or do they need to be put in?? Also i don't know very much about audio setup but if i was to replace the 6*9's with better ones does that mean the wiring needs to be replaced to handle extra power??
No wiring does not need to be changed to handle extra power at all. The only thing you need to worry about is are you going to be happy with the sound coming from the deck or do you want to boost the sound and run it from an amplifier? You can go all otu and buy really expensive audio-kits for wiring like oxygen free (wank) wiring kits and gold plated / full copper strand RCA wiring kits aswel, which you'd be looking at about $150+ per kit, but unless you are one of the I think it's something like 1 or 2% that have perfect hearing and can tell the difference? Not worth it. Just make sure that where the sound is being produced from (deck/amp) has enough power to utilize the full potential of the speakers otherwise they tend to distort at a low volume (good way to tell if not enough power to em)
Hope it helps some.

So just a change over of speakers is all thats required basically
That should do it yeahUnless the speakers you are putting in require more peak power, in which you might (if you are running them off the deck) want to install an amplifier, but if you are already using one, then you should be fine

Hey JUZO, do you mean there are spare left and right wires by the seat that are there to be extended for 6 x 9's or do you steal the ones to the back doors?
I'd be quite happy with some 6 x 9's, dont know why they arent standard these days...
cma r your rear speakers standed or has someone put them in,if they came standed then, i got the povity pack
thats the way a sound system should be set up in my opinion..all bass running thru the subs and the music thru the speaker, and splits up front would be mint haha..plus having 6x9's in the parcel shelf can get stuffed pretty easily due to being in the sun all the time i have been told
Sticking a Chev badge on any Commodore is like putting a Nissan badge on a VL
EOI....VE SS 18" wheels x4 with 5000k's on new tread, 2 of have very minimal gutter rash (previous owner) otherwise like new send me a pm if interested.
when changning from factory speakers to aftermarket you will need to get a stubby screwdirver to undo the speaker as the back screws are very close the the window you will then have to cut off the harness that clicks into the stock speaker and figuire out wich wire is posotive and negative then connect t new speaker and screw back in it is pretyt simple
anyone? ...
If you want 6 x 9's you need to disconnect the rear door speakers and use the wires for them on the 6 x 9's. Hope that helps you archer.
Hi Archers
If you are wondering whether the wiring is in the car for rear door and rear parcel shelf speakers, the answer is no. The wiring is run as standard from the dashboard down the front pillars and into both front doors, on all models. The wiring continues along the door sills to a connecting point at the foot of the centre pillars in all models (excep, I think utilities but could be wrong).
From there the wiring is fitted accoring to the level of trim and equipment fitted. Base models up to and including Berlina have rear door speakers standard, so the wiring harness is fitted from the connector mentioned above, to each rear door. Calais and upward had the four door speakers plus rear shelf speakers, with amp and various other trinkets if you have a Statesman or Caprice, so their wiring looms would run to the rear doors and the rear shelf.
There is no standard pre-fitted wiring for rear shelf speakers in the models below Calais.
great guys thats what i needed to know i will just make the 6x9s slaves to the back door speakers thanxs scott
have to run your own

so if i want to put 2 6 by 9s in the parcel shelf, do i need to pull out the deck n rewire? or is the wiring found somewhere else?
Henry
Read my post above. You have an Exec, so your standard wiring will be for four dour mounted speakers ONLY.
If you want rear shelf speakers, you will have to put in the wiring from the centre pillars back to the shelf yourself.
just finish puttin in the rear speakers works great just on the vz exec i can say that the wire wasnt there at the pillar, i just hooked it up to the rear loom for the speakers to work sounds alot better,
