My dads VZ exec wagon, has the same prob.
He filled up on Friday, dist to emp said 440kms, which is pathetic.

To my understanding its a number of reasons:

    Bad batch of fuel
    Injectors all clogged up
Spark plugs (in the manual, holden recommends changing at 120,000kms)

What fuel do u use & how many k's has the car done?

my vz s ute fuel gauge has a similar problem

it says it is empty after using about 45-50l if fuel. going by the manual it is a 75l tank so there should be plenty in there

My vz svz sedan gives me figures according to my previous driving style eg: if i drive on the freeway and fill up the tank it gives me a fig sometimes even 700 + but if i crawl in the city it will give me fig around the same 440-480 which sometimes depletes quickly...its just the computer that calculates the fig based on your last driving trip after fill up upto the next fill up...

The worst ive got on the SV6 for city driving was 530km but usually when i fill up dist to emp is 720/730kms. The most its shown when ive filled up is 980kms.

When u fill up just press the set button, this resets ur aver fuel, speed & km travelled.

The 190 kw is far better on fuel than the 175 mainly due to the 5 speed and vvt on outlet as well...damn i have 2 live with my 4 speed for a few yrs before i get a manual v8

Paul my car is 06 svz and I have used 98 octane since the day i bought it (it had 6000 ks on it) and now its close to 20,000k's...i think its only due to the crappy 4speed gearbox.....

We had a VY base Crewman at work and it was exceptionally thirsty compared to Commodore sedans, even when driven quietly.

It's a heavy lump of a thing and the six cylinder engine is working hard to haul it around.
I don't think you will ever get even half decent economy with any Crewman.

Vehicle may have a 75 litre tank but you can only use 65. 10 litres are unavailable and used to keep the fuel pumps cooled etc.

crewmans weigh around 1800kgs i believe, and the geared to tall i reckon, you have to rev them more than you would a sedan etc,

also is it under warrenty? or do you get it serviced by holden, next time you to get them to see if it needs the fuel guage calibration update done on the computers

Having the 4 spd auto is not issue that causes crappy fuel eco, i agree the 4sp autos are not the best when it comes to fuel usage but there are other factors that definitely come into play.

My VZ wagon is pretty thirsty, lucky to get 450km out of a tank, at average of 15l/100 km with mostly city, some highway driving.
Better than my VS though, that was lucky to get 350km out of a tank.
What is this fuel gauge calibration you are talking about? is that something that is done at regular service, or do I have to ask for it.
THe last 1/4 of a tank disappears almost instantly, I calculated the other day if goes through the red section, the last half of the last 1/4(the bit After the fuel warning light comes on) , in around 15 kms
My old VS I could drive around 30km after the fuel warning light comes on

Na you have to ask about your fuel gauge. Mine was super crap when i told them to fix it now its pretty well right

Just filled up my crewman for the second time, and i am more than happy with the fuel economy, 500km/60L (avg 12L/100km). I cant complain as my previous ute (2000 4L AU One Tonner) was around 450km/75L (avg 17L/100km).. Figure that i have gained an extra 2 seats for the kids, nicer interior (for the missus), better fuel economy and just all round better ute for my money than the previous... and the tray? Perfect! still fits a pallet, load of sand, or turf if required as im a green keeper...
