Question Child booster seat in VZ Ute?

My daughter is sleeping over at my brothers house tonight and his work Van is at the mechanics and only has his VZ ute.
I have heard that you can't put car seats in them, is that true?
I don't know much about his car, but I do know its a V8.

Depends if there is a anchor point behind the front pass seat to secure the Booster.

Its not a booster seat with an anchor point. It just is held in place with the car seat belt.
I was told it was something to do with the airbags that you shouldn't use them. I wanted to know if it was true or not.

Yes there is a point there and my understanding is as long as there is no passenger airbag its ok. Ive had my daughter in my ute on occasion too

The ruling from the RTA states that if there is a passenger side airbag then no child under the age of 12 can ride in the front seat.

If there's no airbag, then legally, it's fine.

On the odd occasion my son (5yo) goes in my husband's work van (front seats only).

First check would be to see if the ute has a passenger airbag fitted, if not all will be ok. Passenger airbag is an option
