Ok I'm doing quite a lot of highway driving at the moment as my g/f lives about an hour and a half from where I live. Its a short drive though great country thats populated by roos, rabbits, emus and sheep. I'vr been thinking about getting s VZ nudge bar with some spotties mounted.
Just did a quick Google and Gitsham make exactly what I'm after, shown below. I'm not sure if Holden make a genuine nudge bar but I assume they would. Anyone have an idea of price of a Gitsham (or other aftermarket brand) vs Holden and whats involved in fitment, whether the front bar has to be hacked up.
This is not a request for opinions of whether I should get one or not so if you think they look ugly, that's fine, keep it to yourself.

holden make them, they quite often pop up on ebay from people removing them off their cars, a bracket is bolted to under the car behind the front bar, then the nudge bar mounts to the back bracket through the lower vent in the bar
i dare say they are very ineffective for protecting the car from a roo, but is great for hanging lights off

i hit a roo a week before xmas. had the option of hitting it dead centre or of on me passenger side headlight.had to decide within a second and although on minesites they say hit it square on i knew it would write me car off. so opted for the latter and wiped out me passenger side headlight instead. now this was over 90km per hour.
end result wiped out headlight, grille, front bar, bonnet, side fender around indicator and airbox behind headlight.due to festive season car stayed in panelshop a extra week.see pics
I was, at one stage thinking about a Nudge bar, until i got quoted the price & the fact that the car wouldn't fit in the garage.

What about a poly smart bar, color coded to your car? I can supply bolt in HID spot light to suit as well!
what about those plastic bullbars that are airbag friendly
Yer my smart bar was $1500 then another $400 to colour code(plus $300 for the HID spot lights)
So not exacly cheap, but one of the better options if you have the cash
Can't remember where I read it (might have been on here somewhere even?) that you are best sticking to genuine parts for that kind of thing, because you don't want it interfering with the airbag sensors and other safety features.
I have to say I'm a little skeptical of those things being of much value, given that if you car gets hit, there is X amount of kinetic energy which has to be absorbed somewhere, if it's not a crumple zone then where is it? Through the whole chassis I'd assume?
The smart bars absorb the shock within themselves, they are hollow formed and can flex quite a fair bit, they are airbag safe and tested
They must be ok, the CFA, Police and SES use them
