How do i tell if my 05 sv6 manual has an lsd or not?WIthout doing a highe burnout lol Is there a code on the build plate or something

Should have a tag fitted to the filler plug. The build plate under the bonnet will only give you the diff ratio

Doesn't that mean its an open diff? I think lsd's both spin the same way

Yea LSD's spin the same way, open centre diffs spin opposite ways, I have seen worn out LSD's that when you spin one wheel the other doesn't move at all.

But I was under the impression that with a locker both spin in same direction, open they spin independantly and LSD they spin oposite? meh, learn something new every day

as far as i know all SV6's after 05 have LSD the Exec's didnt..

Yeah McCabe you're right there dude, was Feb 05' I believe that the LSD became standard. Don't think any of the exec's had em?

On this note, I am replacing our VZ Exec's diff with a complete LSD 3.71 one so if anyone wants a 3.08 Diff for their SV6 I will probably be selling it shortly.

If yours is an 04' I'd have to say it's a single pegger unless the person who owned it before you actually installed an LSD. You'd have to have a look for LSD or ratios, summink. If you posted your VIN, someone may be able to decipher it for you and tell you if it is? I cannot remember what the numbers/letters refer to... hehe

my plate in the engine bay tell's me my axle is GT9(does anyone know what this is?)
and does high performance on the tag on the filler plug mean LSD?

High performance does not mean LSD.
LSD on the tag means LSD.
There would be more info about using proper oil additives. I have an LSD in my VY LS1 and have read the tag more times than I would like to admit.

exactly. Unless it says LSD on the diff, I'd be inclined to stick by my previous comment stating that because its an 04' SV6, it'd be a single pegger UNLESS someone had replaced the gears/diff.

GT9 is lsd because thats what my plate says and my tag on the diff also says high performance blah blah

but would holden put on the tag high performance instead of LSD to make it sound better for people who wouldn't know what it means?

i believe it is stronger gears. i.e my old supercharged VT diff had a high performance tag (same as 5L V8 models) but was not LSD - due to the wheelspin fun I had.
