VZ SS Cluster into MY06 V6

I bought a new SS Instrument cluster second hand. It has zero km's on it. Will this fit straight in place of my existing cluster? Will the tacho work ok even though it is out of an 8 cylinder going into the standard V6? Are the km's stored in the cluster unit or logged in the ECU?

no, needs to be reprogrammed via Tech 2 to read your current Kays and to have certain other measurements fixed like fuel guage reader and diff thingo (name escapes me) so the KPH reads correctly

It will fit strait in but as said earlier it will have to get reprogrammed. All the information e.g. diff ratio, how many airbags, weather its a 6 or 8 etc....
Is stored in the cluster, so the info out of the SS will have different specs to ur standard one. It can be done.
Im looking at getting the VZ Calais cluster fitted into my SV6, just gotta find one first.

Where are you? I have a reasonable demo platform myself if you're close by, otherwise I can put you in touch with someone so you can have a look/listen - worth a thort maybe.

How can i find out how many airbags i have? isnt this one of the few things that was changed in the upgraded model of the VZ SV6's. i have a Dec '05 model btw.

Also, little thing, wtf does MY06 mean? is it model year?

MY06 - someone told me it meant Series II. Can someone confirm this?

MY = Manufactured Year

(and there was NO series II VZ - just the "05 Upgrade"....)

I beg to differ on the VZ Series II. The after market Hayes service book shows VZ and VZ Series II

there was never any official "Series 2" badging on the VZ's as there was in previous models. I prefer series 2 models as they have sorted out most issues that may arise with the original, but looking for a VZ series 2, there appears to be no such thing.

I know the book ur talking about cause i went & got on few weeks back. Those manuals arent that good, i just got it cause i wasnt sure on a few things, the rest i already knew.

As said earlier, there is no VZ II just '05 upgrade

Anyone know of someone in Adelaide that does the tech 2 reprogramming (other than holden which sometime do and sometimes say NO)

changed airbags kms everything as i went form single to triple m8 they said the do it quite a bit so alot of people must do it. what cluster u gonna put in? i put a monaro in a exec

sounds good. i got a HSV with white faces on the gauge and 3 LCD and its going in my acclaim

yeh going to get the km's changed and maybe the start up symbol if they can.
I didnt know what colour lights it was cause i have never seen one at night, white should like nice cause the car is white to.
