Actualy for a year or so the VZ's came out with LS1 motors then later on they started putting LS2 motors in em
They started production of the VZ's in mid '04 through to mid '06
yeh vz hsv's were ls1's until janurary '06 where the ls2 was put in
i rememba when they first came out.
and that was a big feature the new ls2 and how wheels mag got it to 274 kms
so i could swear that they came out with the ls2
Yeah all VZ HSV had the LS2 that was the selling point for the HSV Z range. The VZ SS had LS1 till they soon nearing the end of the line had the L76 in them, which i'm pretty sure the L76 was the selling point for either the SSZ or the Thunders.
IIRC the main motivation for the move to LS2 was the adoption of Euro III emissions standards. The LS1 didn't cut it any more.
Thats where i got mixed up, i knew holden VZ's started with LS1's but didnt know it was the HSV's that had the LS2 from the start....well i was close
