Hi Everyone...
I am fairly new to cars in general, but i do know what i like and i like Vz SV6 which i am going to be taking a look at tomorrow as a private sale.
what should i be looking for on a new car like a vz that could potentially go wrong with it.
If you could list general problems that you guys and gals may have had since owning a Vz that would be great so i can fully inspect the car over tomorrow.
Fanks Guys And Gals that would be heaps good![]()
ROCK OUT WITH YOUR **** OUT !!!
depending on the build date you might want to see if its been cleared of the recent side airbag recall, other that i'm drawing a mental blank on what else there is.

There are a few threads on this kind of topic around.. I would recommend looking through the forum - people post threads about their particular issues they are having and other members help work through their problem or give advise etc. Find some and have a read.
This is what I did when I bought my SV6 about 8 months ago. I was in almost the exact same situation as you are - really set on an SV6!
I can tell you some things that I found on this forum when buying mine/have happened to mine since...
I have an Impulse 05 SV6 Auto, I have had the:
*Door handles replaced (all four) - look at this carefully on your potential car as I didn't find many that weren't at least starting to peal on at least one handle.
* Ignition barrel replaced - wouldn't let me turn the key at all.
* Glove box adjusted - wasn't sitting straight/aligning with interior.
* Squeaky accelerator pedal fixed (and know have put genuine alloy pedals on myself).
That's about it I think.. All done under new car warranty (another thing to think about when buying one.) Also, I have no personal experience but I saw you were looking at leather - obviously, you'd want to look at the condition of it - slouching/rips and tears etc. One other thing is the fact that the front bar is so low - have a look at the condition of the bottom of it as many are quite scratched up and the paint will continue to peal from these scratches due to the flexibility of the bumper.
Otherwise just look at the obvious, scratches/dents, touch ups, tyre and wheel condition, car history and service log and the interiors of VZ's are often quite scratched eg.around radio buttons and centre console area paint wearing from long nails.
I have been really happy with my car so far, no major problems at all and the problems I've had, Holden have been great to fix under warranty.
Good luck with it all. Let us know how it goes.
Cheers
Brad.
nothing to major on alloytecs, just check the service book, make sure its regular, just make sure all the body panels are lined up right, might pay to see someone with a vy/vz that you know hasnt had an accident and look at the way the body panels are joined, alot of the time panel shops use different body glues and textures to factory, that can give it away, so look at the boot drainage area, under the sills, around the firewall etc
