    ive got a vy and just changed mine an hour ago,
    if its anything lie mine you just screw it out, rub some oil around the mew filter lip and screw the new one in.
    my mate has this thing/tool that wraps around it but i just do it by hand and a cloth for extra grip.

    VY= Ecotec
    VZ= Alloytec

    VY uses a screw on type and VZ uses a cartridge

    1/2 inch breaker bar and socket, just put your whole weight on it, dosnt matter if the engine moves, just remember when you do it up, its a little shunt, no pushing to tighten it,

    grab some of those flexible ice packs and wrap it around the top of the filter housing, it may contract enough to remove

    Also sometimes giving the bar a tap will be enough to shock it loose rather than just the pushing force.
