Default Options for SV6 FE2 suspension

Ok I've got a fair idea of what I want to do to my car with regards to exterior, interior, stereo and engine but suspension is a bit of a grey area for me. I'm happy with my FE2 height; its low enough as it is. All I need is a load of shopping in the boot and its scraping over speed humps and spoon drains.

But aside from that I have no idea about struts and springs and what combos will give me what I want. I still want comfort around town but if I feel like driving hard through some twisty hills I want a solid yet bearable car.

In the future I'd like to put 18's on so I dare say i'd do the suspension at the same time.

    Hey Mate,

To keep it at stock height, which is what im decided to do aswell.
Monroe GT Gas struts would be the way to go, ive got these in the rear as a direct replacement to the FE2 shocks.
Springs im not to sure about, prob Kings, FE2 equivalent.

if you want to stay stock heigh why would you bother with the expense of buying new springs kings aren't going to be any better then fe2?

if you want a good ride quality but good handling in twisty stuff then get a strut brace and upgrade your swaybars this will keep the ride the same but remove body roll so you can corner better.

    Default fe 1.5 or fe2?

im thinking about my bog standard vz wagon & its stock suspension system at the moment. I like how it rides at the moment but im not so crash hot about the height. Some times its decieving. Eg: regardless if i have a full tank of petrol or not it for whatever reason (on a flat surface) it either sits up high or (most of the time) sits lower than standard. Ive parked it next to my mates vy clubby & on certain days it sits at the same height as his or sometimes higher!????

Anyway, i was looking at changing it to the FE2 suspension setup, but after reading more info, it seems that for what i want, im more a fe1.5 person. I want the height of a clubby but want the same comfort as ive got now.

help! ive got no idea what im after now....

18 or 19 will make it sit higher, IMO if you want low but same handling etc, go to Jax Quickfit and get some Peddars Greys, there what i put on my car, same handling etc just lower, P.S i also had to tap my guard out a little bit asd my wheels are offset a tad too much..

Reducing air pressure in the tyres is guaranteed to improve the ride, lower the car and make it look as though it's sitting nicely. Probably about 105k/pa (15 lbs). WARNING you will screw up your tyres real fast though and the handling will be lousy.

I want the ride height the same as it is now, but with better handling. So let me get this straight - if I keep my rims, I might just need to get some sway bars. But If I put 18's or 19's on then I would need to lower it so it doesn't look stupid and get the sway bars for better handling - am I right?

yes swaybars remove body roll helping to keep the load spread across all your tyres in a corner.
