Hey all,
As you all know i just purchased a new VZ (used by new for me :-P ) anyways when I rev the car it doesn't go further then 4000rpm even when foot fully down, it hasn't been in for a service yet and god only knows when it was done last, driving is fine and gear changes smooth, i'm just wondering what could be causing this? oh and also, when i would rev it and turn off the car i can hear like water boiling in the engine bay very loudly, normal? (added new coolant recently)
Thanks
its to stop idiots like you over revving your car, all auto alloytecs do it,
as for the boiling noise, i would say you either dont have the right coolant(if any??), also posssible you have air in the system.
OR sitting there trying to rev it past 4000rpm constantly has over heated it
I dont rev my car for zero reason, i was just curious.
Yea i topped it up with coolant the other day, It could very well be that your right and air is in the system.
Thanks
do you mean it wont rev past 4000rpm in nuetral or when your driving it wont go past 4grand?
in nuetral
lol on a boat bitch, <3 that video clip ..........
Have you had a look at the dash on start up to see if it's in protected mode? (or whatever it's called).
Me? I'm the guy who does his job ... you must be the other guy ...
No I havent checked if it's in protected mode, it wont got past 4 even in drive!
It won't rev past 4k in N or P.
But should def rev past 4k in 1 or D...
well thats different to your first post
that to me says, when im sitting in P or N, the car wont rev past 4k (which all auto alloytec wont)when I rev the car it doesn't go further then 4000rpm
so does it drive fine or not??? not reving past 4k in drive is not finedriving is fine and gear changes smooth
naf33n you have done nothing but make deconstructive and criticizing comments. His car wont rev past 4000rpm in neutral or in motion. You knew what he meant so why the attitude?
The alloytec does have a feature that prevents you from loading up for a hard launch. The fact that it's doing it in neutral is strange. I'm guessing here but i'd say there is a feature that prevents over revving in a damaged engine. Might just be your plugs. As Ewok mentioned there is a limp home mode. I heard about it somewhere but don't remember exactly what it does. Check your handbook for all your dash lights and meanings. Also just because the light isn't on doesn't mean it shouldn't be, etc bulb, wiring. hope it helps a bit
That the automobile has practically reached the limit of its development is suggested by the fact that during the past year no improvements of a radical nature have been introduced.

Drinking and driving: there are stupider things, but it's a very short list.
I've been following mainpath's vz purchase and he's gone and bought a car with a doubtful service history and from the sounds of it didn't get it inspected. These problems would have been identified at an inspection and mainpath probably could have got the previous owner to fix these problems, or cancel the deal if they didn't.
I can understand why naf33n is doing this because I know I was shaking my head when I read the OP, he was asking for problems.
As far as I am aware there is actually a "cooling off period" after buying a new car whereby if you find anything drastically wrong with the car, you can null and void a contract? Don't quote me on this but it's something I have heard in the past.
Me? I'm the guy who does his job ... you must be the other guy ...
um no, im just trying to get a clear understanding to try help, his first post described the car as if it wont rev past 4k in P or N... which is normal, and in the same sentence said it drives fine, which tell me the car revs out as it should...
im trying to help, not playing guessing games and assuming what i think he means![]()
Yeah, as I said don't quote mebut that sounds a lot more like what I was trying to remember.

re: boiling noises - air trapped cooling system?
OK i'm very sorry to have annoyed all of you, it wasn't my intention, It's booked in as i write this, guy at the service centre said there is a locked mode. Before i took it in i drove it in first gear and it actually revs past 4k so i guess all of you were right.
The boiling noises are going to be checked out now.
WIN!as for the boiling noise, go inside and turn the kettle off... ifs fkn loud ...
Me? I'm the guy who does his job ... you must be the other guy ...
haha the boiling noise was caused by the fact that the owners before hadn't topped up the radiator water and the fact that the radiator cap was totally broken.
Otherwise the car is perfect so it didn't end up being a bad buy.
glad you worked it out
i do as the voices tell me
