the R8 is basically the senator with a different body kit and minus the statesman/caprice features......
R8's are still pretty nice inside tho
its your car so i would choose what you want... try and arrange for a drive in both of them to compare the difference

The senator has a nicer feeling interior, dvd screen etc, personally, i would take the R8, the senator body style got boring in the VZ(even worse in the VE)

A difficult question you will get no sympathy for having to make. I believe they have the same engine and the price of a used car cant be that different. I'd go senator, you sit on the inside so make that the priority, my opinion anyway.
That the automobile has practically reached the limit of its development is suggested by the fact that during the past year no improvements of a radical nature have been introduced.

    RE: Styling

IMO along with the VTII GTS and the VY Senator the VZ is the best looking HSV built

haha Troy, spot on mate, I agree. VE anything is a bloody WHALE of a car. VZ is where they got it right. And naffen, damn you too buddy, beat me to it

Personally I'd go the VZ Senator and grab a manual conversion just because of the interior. But if you don't want any of that hassel, just grab the VZ R8, they are the best looking HSV on the road as far as I am concerned, I think the only thing I'd do with it is get the Senator boot lip instead I'm a fussy bastard ............... just don't do what "cashd up" did and bastardize it heheeh

Senator... No question about it (in my mind anyway)

Its the performance PLUS all the luxuries, to me, they just seem to have more of a sex appeal than the clubbies (dont get me wrong, the clubbies are super sexy and i wouldnt say no if someone gave me one ) but I'd definatly go the senator for both the exterior and interior (plus its auto, woooo!) haha

Senator is a bit more luxury than the R8, whereas the R8 is setup with a more "race car for the road" feel. do a google search for a comparisson
